Any homesteaders need a guardian dog?

We have had coyotes where we are go over a 5 foot fence and kill good sized sheep in daylight. That was years ago, but it caused us to shop for a helper to protect the sheep. For a time one of our sons would sleep out in the pasture with the little border collie cross dog we had.
Later my husband bought goats and used electric net fencing a few miles from us to contain them as we used them to thin out some thick brush on a neighbor's property. One day we got a call from the rancher over there informing us the goats were out and MILES away. The reason was a mama lion and her two grown cubs had gotten in and made the goats very unhappy there. There was eleven dead goats, and a local hunter brought his dogs the next night and helped our sons fill predation tags.

We found purchasing these dogs expensive. ...and ours weren't as costly as some (5 to 6 K for a pure Boz shepherd puppy!) So we crossed our registered Akbash bitch that we have had for years with our big Boz male.
We were hoping for 2 to 3 pups and got eight!

They are now 3 months old and healthy...and need to find homes.
We have 4 females and 2 males available.
Asking 850.00 ea. Open to offers.
We are in central Arizona, but may ship at the new owners expense.

I don't need a dog but I do need pictures! LOL

I have Great Pyrenees that we've used for livestock guardians for several years now (love 'em) - how do you think they would get along?

(I'm not familiar with the Boz personally; don't think I've ever met one, or seen any around here.)

Oh man, we just lost our Pyrenees make too. Unfortunately it’s not in our budget. They sound like great dogs!

He was about ten months old there.

This is the dam with the litter the day they were born.

I've never had Pyrenees. These dogs seem good natured. We have a border collie here too, 2 Boz, and the Akbash. They don't fight. I expect it would depend some on the individuals, how old when introduced, male or female, and other such factors.

Like I said....we are open to offers.

That sire is a GREAT looking dog. Thank you so much for indulging my desire for the pics! I hope that TRM is able to figure out a way to get one of these pups from you. I am betting they would make a really good guard dog.

Ha! I have LGD pups too. We have 5 (3 male 2 female) and they 1/2 Maremma, 1/4 Great Pyrenees, 1/4 Anatolian Shepherd. They're 12 weeks old. I'm in Michigan. Is this your first liter?

First litter of guardian dogs. We have had other breeds of dogs over the years. To be honest, I didnt grow up with dogs.. .I appreciate what they do, but relate better to sheep or horses... even goats.

I have found though that I can sleep better with a dog barking then I can worrying about the safety of the stock.
