Biblical Hermeneutics–proper interpretation of Scriptural principles/truth
One of Satan’s most consistent attempts at deception is to undermine the authority of Scripture.
In the Garden of Eden, Satan attempted to “spin” God’s Word.
In the Temptation of Jesus, Satan attempted to “twist” God’s Word.
In the Church of the 21st century, Satan is attempting to “discredit” God’s Word.
Churches that began in revival fire that impacted cities and even nations, have frequently abandoned Scriptural truth in order to be “politically correct.” For example: same sex marriages, abortion, etc., often capture the media headlines. Those believers (churches) who stand for Biblical truth are berated, intimidated, and categorized as extremists.
But, there is something even more basically foundational–very subtle and destructive– at the core of Satan’s deceptive lies, than these (very important) issues. If/when cultural experience is successful in defining Scriptural hermeneutic in/for the Church of Jesus Christ, the whole foundation of faith begins to crumble. And, if one portion of Scripture is questionable to a particular segment of culture or the church, then how can other truths be defended? The attempt to evaluate Scripture by human intellect and cultural experience alone, discounting the Spirit’s revelation and divine inspiration is an enticing pathway for the carnal mind.
The obvious cannot be long in coming into the body of believers. Think about it.
Does it matter if leaders in the local Church do not meet Scriptural qualifications?
Do we cease to declare “Thus saith the Lord” and “Thou shall not” for fear of being offensive?
Has the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-18; Acts 1:8) been altered?
Do our attempts at “excellence” overshadow the dependence on the Holy Spirit?
Do we allow “cultural trends” to establish the path for HIS Church?
Do we lead or follow?
Faith (for salvation) comes by hearing the Word of God!
Revival comes by returning to the Word of God!
Sanctification (spiritual maturity) comes by obeying the Word of God!
