Who were the Daughters of Jerusalem in the Song of Solomon?
Were they servants, single gals in the community or Solomon’s other wives?

I've read some interesting articles that says Greek style plays were developed from Persian style plays (so the similarities to The song of Solomon may be potential found there), which were developed from a certain Asian style play.My theory has always been that the Song of Solomon was written to be performed. It's a play. And in fact it lines up perfectly with how early Greek dramas were written. I believe the Daughters of Jerusalem were the chorus who serve as narrators and sometimes interact with the main characters. If you read like a script it makes a lot more sense.
Now the problem with this theory is that the Song of Solomon was written a long time before Greek drama developed. But I personally don't have a problem with the idea that the Greeks got drama from the Israelites anyway. Real scholars might have meltdowns over it though.
I also think it was written by Solomon and the Queen of Sheba together and is a stylized love poem to each other. The female protagonist is described as being black. That would be a pretty spicy play.....
