God Himself Becomes the Enemy of His Own People

Deuteronomy 12:31
31 You must not worship YHVH your God the way the other nations worship their gods, for they perform for their gods every detestable act that YHVH hates.

Wouldn’t Easter and Christmas fit in that category?
Not necessarily, with the exception of Easter in English speaking countries (most languages name the day after some version of “pasach”, it’s only in English that we named it after a pagan fertility goddess) there’s nothing inherently pagan about recurring celebrations.

Although I have to admit that I am fairly uncomfortable with Easter even outside of its name.

Where do these traditions of men come from?

Seek these things out yourself. Once you confirm them to be true - would you not agree that so much of Christianity today is built upon Constantine? What if his conversion was fake? A massive deception to infiltrate the church from within? Examine the fruit that came forth - the Roman Catholic Church - and each generation they just moved further and further away from the Scriptures. Until Martin Luther came and gave them some competition through the Protestant church. But he simply went back to the foundation of Constantine - did he not? Protestants claim to be “Sola Scripture” but they join hands with the Roman Catholic Church and Constantine on Sunday sabbath. On Easter. On Christmas. What if the adversary controls both sides? The moment you step outside of the foundation that Constantine built - they are going to ask you to leave their 501 c(3) church. Will they not? Test it yourself. What 501 c(3) church is going to allow you to bring your extra wives - Saturday sabbath - Passover - into their congregation? Better chance you get the cops called on you for trespassing.
I have looked into these claims and have found no support for them. Constantine gets blamed for making up Christianity by people who hate the gospel and want to discredit its message.

He got a lot of things wrong, that’s allowed you know, he was a very rich and powerful man who was not raised as a Christian. No one’s theology is perfect, not even yours.

He did a lot of good though and there’s nothing to indicate that he wasn’t a sincere believer. What he did do, which he shouldn’t have, was try to eliminate religious debate in an attempt to enforce unity. There were some understandable reasons why he did that but it was the wrong thing to do.

You don’t need a great villain to explain away the church’s drift towards apostasy. It is a natural tendency in all people and all Christian groups. I’m seeing some alarming trends in the Torah Observant community right now, which I am a member of.

Rather than lambasting the other denominations we need to be focused on policing our own ranks. We’re straying in to areas that make pagan holidays seem trivial.

Where do these traditions of men come from?
Who cares? Individual traditions that are not universal to the celebration do not reflect on the celebration. You’re far too rigid and way too afraid of things that shouldn’t scare you. If you don’t like Easter then don’t celebrate Easter. I don’t. But don’t go on outrage fueled rants accusing anyone who does of apostasy.

No pagan is celebrating the resurrection of Christ. Painting eggs could have developed in a number of different places for a number of different reasons. Certainly there were no known pagan egg decorators for vast swaths of western history while the traditions around Easter were being developed. The truth is that we don’t know where most of this stuff came from.

We do know that the claims about its pagan origins almost universally originate with late enlightenment atheists, or actual pagans. Accusing the roots of Christianity of being pagan is an actual pagan practice. Are you going to stop doing that? No. Of course not. Pagans breathed too. That doesn’t make breathing pagan.

This vitriolic hysteria whereby we attack everything that has ever existed in between Christ and us is illogical and ridiculous and drives people away from the very real good that exists in our community.

Meanwhile we don’t bat an eye at any depredation inflicted on the New Testament and even Christ as long as it comes from someone who some how keeps some version of a non-Sunday sabbath.

We will blithely excuse any alteration to the sabbath that isn’t Sunday. We will joyfully participate in any bastardized Passover service that bears not the slightest resemblance to what was commanded while we strictly keep Purim and Hanukkah which were never commanded, all while damning to hell as heretics anyone who decorates their house for Christmas.

We risk becoming ridiculous caricatures of hypocrites.

This past two weeks alone I have run into four different Torah keepers who have essentially rejected Christ as having any divinity; two of which claim to have no need of a sacrifice for forgiveness and one who rejects the New Testament entirely.

Christmas and Sunday worship, and by the way worship was never commanded for the weekly sabbath anyway, are not worse sins than that. We have our own problems. Leave the Greeks to their Greek things. They have to comply to Acts 15. And whether they do or not is none of our business.

We have to comply to John chapter 1 and whether we do or not will determine whether or not our movement is allowed to grow or whether we are rightly throttled in our infancy.

It was official policy of Roman Emperors to force same religion in order to homogenize Empire and reduce conflicts brewing inside.

Christianity won this round. And Emperors did what they always wanted: beat out anyone who disagrees.

It's fault of later generation for not correcting errors.

No pagan is celebrating the resurrection of Christ.
No, but it still involves incorporating, at least to some degree, a way of worship done by other nations. The Creator says these nations even sacrificed their own children through their way of worship - so we are commanded not to worship him the way they worship their gods. Look at Christmas - dec 25 - multiple sun gods were born on that day. Is it honoring the Savior by celebrating his birthday on a day that the sun god pagans celebrated their own gods’ birthday - which may of involved child sacrifice? I don’t think it’s honoring him. If anything - it’s provoking him to anger, because he says you must not do it:

Deuteronomy 12:31
31 You must not worship YHVH your God the way the other nations worship their gods, for they perform for their gods every detestable act that the YHVH hates. They even burn their sons and daughters as sacrifices to their gods.

2 Kings 17:17
They (Israel) even sacrificed their own sons and daughters in the fire. They consulted fortune-tellers and practiced sorcery and sold themselves to evil, arousing YHVH’s anger.

It simply went further and further into paganism - while persecuting those that wanted to walk in his Word. It’s gone so far away from the Word that we’re living in the generation that once again is calling what is evil - good. And what is good - evil. Homosexuality = good. A man sleeping around with countless women = good. A woman sleeping around with countless men, because she doesn’t need a man to take care of her = good. But a man that considers homosexuality an abomination = evil. A man that wants to grow his household like the patriarch Jacob = evil.

This is your explanation why:

Situation wasn't much better in 3th century. So Roman Emperors needed to stabilize society*. And religious unification is best way. Lord says you must obey all bureaucrats and work first for all Emperor.

And don't forget, politicians natural instict is centralization.

Combined all this means forced unification into single-minded which means choosing popular over truth.

*Heavy taxation under bureaucrats means that material states is determinated more by being close with rulers rather than service in markets. So naturally, it will only increase number of "deserving" while resources remain limited resulting in driving conflict up.

And multiple fertility rites happened around Passover. Is it wrong to celebrate Passover? All kinds of pagan harvest festivals look a LOT like sukkhot, and yet you don’t question that.

You actually don’t care if the pagans do something or not. It’s the Christians you want to be different from.

I would say Earth rotation around Sun had much influence when something is celebrated. Good harvest would be seen as blessing everywhere.

It would be expected all religions would celebrate that and since in Northerh hemispehere harvest falls around same time, festival celebrating harvest would fall around same time.

And if Satan has any role, it would be by copying Lord harvest festival, so again celebration at same time.

No wonder 25th December is celebrated. I hate winter. It's most lifeless season ever. And early darkness stops you from doing anything. No wonder people were happy when it's bloody over.

And Valentine is my favourite "holiday". Not because of love, but no more negative Celzius.
