I thought it was sad that not long ago the headlines read "Divorce Rate in UK Drops Steadily". The article went on to say how the number of divorces were declining steadily year by year. They were so proud of this fact, but then at the end of the article admitted that the rate of marriage was dropping at an equivalent or greater rate...statistics can do magic tricks in the hands of the right individuals...
What this article actually pointed out is that in many "developed" countries marriage and children are considered an unnecessary burden by many.
