THE COMING PROMISE

I'm with the Vineyard. I witnessed some of this Holy Laughter along with the Holy Roar. It was kind of freaky to watch. Our smaller church used to go to a bigger one once a month until the larger one started doing that. Our pastor decided it was better we not go there any more.

I'll check out your links later this evening. Thanks for sharing. I don't know if it belongs in Marriage and Family, but maybe in Links of Interest?

What an encouraging prophecy, and what a time Bob must be having with the angels he saw so regularly.

Sirs/Maam, I'm not raining on the parade but I'm not familiar with Bob Jones or other visionaries, except for the prophets/prophecies in the Bible.

Is the concept of modern visionaries or prophets consistent with Holy Scriptures? I mean, we are warned about false prophets and teachers.

What makes Mr. Jones a legitimate visionary according to Holy Scriptures?

Thank you.

Sorry for the avatar, sir. it's supposed to be an image of a sinner seeking redemption, like the way I felt. I used it more as a reminder to myself, not to make a statement. Anyway, I was going to change it already.

I've read somewhere that prophets are no longer needed at this time because we already have the word of God. But I'm not against persons like Mr. Jones. Like you stated, his fruits will bear him out and if he was righteous then he is one of the fortunate few who are given the "power" to see a glimpse of the stuff God wants us to know.

Besides, his apple tree vision is in line with Bible prophecies regarding the spreading of God's truth in the end times. I understand that there are several ways to accomplishing a goal.

Please sir, no offence was taken. I was changing the avatar because I don't feel that way anymore, thanks in part to you people here. I understand how we can find enlightenment even outside the Bible. Jesus/Yeshua supposedly studied with Buddhist monks during His "missing" years, although am not betting on that until some concrete historical evidence surfaces.

I'll check out that song. :)

What do you think? True or false?

I think I "know" that to be false, but I can offer no reason for it. I do know that we are to temper anything that anyone says to the word of God, but that wouldn't include specific prophesies for certain people or circumstances. For example, Bob comes up to me and says, "God told me that you need to go to Nicaragua." I wouldn't have the faintest idea what to do. Now, if it were true, God, knowing I would be completely dumbfounded/confused/bewildered/doubtful, would probably orchestrate various signs that would point to that, ultimately showing that Bob was a prophet, but.... I just don't know.

God is the God of yesterday, today and tomorrow. So, logic dictates that if there were prophets in the past, there could/would be prophets today.

(i feel i have added nothing to this)

I find it humorous that when I wrote this, I picked the name "Bob" at random. I mean, come on, it's "Bob". Can't get more generic than that. Except maybe Mike, but that's me. Anyway, I then recalled that I hadn't yet read this article Pebble posted. So I read it. Guess what? It's Bob! Just though that was funny.

So, I read this prophecy.... It's very poetic. It's pretty. It inspires. It's also a little generic. When I recall memories, or impressions, of prophecies in the Bible, they are very Specific. As in, "Specific people or person, this is specific thing is going to happen a) because you did this specific thing, or b) if you don't do this other specific thing. I don't recall off hand, please correct me if I'm wrong, any generic "fortune-telling".

I'm being a little glib here, but I truly mean no disrespect. This article sounds a lot like a fortune teller's "you'll meet a tall dark stranger." You know what's going to happen? You'll keep your eyes peeled for a tall, dark stranger. Saw three on the way to Wal-Mart, four at the grocery store and you've been living next to one for the past 5 years. His name is "Robert" and he still has your hedge trimmer he borrowed last year.

Interesting thing about what appears to be random, but yet could be something deeper.

Some times you just have to let go and feel the force, Luke Skywalker. :)

True. I didn't really think about that. And now that you brought it up, I'm REALLY hoping I'm not going to Nicaragua. BUT, if I do, I'm sure it'll be an interesting time. God's Will be done (but please not Nicaragua...).

According to interpretations of the Book of Revelations, there are going to be 2 "official" prophets in the future. Based on that, my previous statement is wrong, obviously. But we know they are "the" prophets because it is already written. Also, did the Bible really used "prophets" to describe them? Like they will prophesy things similar to the prophets of the OT? Because the OT prophets and revelations already gave us a general picture of what will happen in the future. Perhaps they will fill in the details? The way I see it (which is based on very limited knowledge, really), is that they will appear only to spread the Gospel and serve as witnesses that God's word will pass as it is written, thereby exalting His word and His name above all.

However, we do have people who are spiritually gifted and a lot more are coming, empowered by the Holy Spirit. But, aren't they also witnesses only? Part of the mass action to spread the Gospel as already written in the Bible?

I also mean no disrespect, I could use a blueprint of what will happen until the mellinial reign and if the the spiritually gifted can help provide it, then I'd be most grateful. But I have to use the Bible as THE measuring stick. Too many wolves in sheepskin has shaken my faith in the past and turned me off religion as a whole, this time I am determined to focus on that one light alone. :)

BTW, I also learned to go where God wants me to serve Him. Enough of my schemes has already failed to understand that it is either His way or no way. :D

BTW #2, I used to call myself a Sithari, even the dark side can feel the force. :)
