these are all beautifully descriptive names of YHWH used in the old testament.
for some reason the greek new testament is devoid of this imagery.
did the Almighty lose His desire to minister to us through His name(s), or did they get lost in the translation (into greek)?
 
"JEHOVAH" is a transliteration. It is not and never was YHWH's name.

There were 4,130,000 search results for "jehovah is not god's name" so I will assume there is a considerable amount of information available on this topic for anyone interested in researching further.
 
i am sure that that is a very important point to some people *shrug* i find it amusing that most of them insist upon referring to Yeshua by a greek name. a name that was alien to the culture and to his family.
 
I wasn't aware that most of "them" insist upon it (at least most of "them" that I know don't insist on it) ...rather it seems that "they" use it because it is how He is commonly known by believers and nonbelievers alike...I think those silly Catholics started that way back when...but who knows...on the other hand the transliteration is actually only found once if one goes back to the original document containing the error. Unfortunately the error "caught on" and only compounded...but hasn't that been typical in the history of the "church"? (most notably the modern cults thrive on these types of errors)

* Just had an afterthought...our English language uses very little Hebrew, but you will find Greek and Latin...and French, etc...maybe that is a contributing factor to the use of the Greek name rather than the Hebrew.

The problem I see in names is that they mean something, with out that information mush is lost at times as to what is being said. BTW the "J" in old english and is still found in parts of England, more so around London is pronounced as a "ya" sound. The hard J is a more recent thing.
