West Coast Retreat (April 20-22, 2018)

Also strongly considering this retreat, but I'm new and it's soon so I feel like I would be imposing.

Time will tell with both events and ultimately the Lord will guide our footsteps.
Do what the Lord tells you to do, but we would love for you to join us.

No. Most likely changing from California (pretty expensive) to Nevada. Details to be hashed out soon. The dates should stay the same.

We live in the Nevada area and are looking forward to a retreat close by! If you need help finding a venue I would be willing to help by putting in some time calling around. Just not sure what accommodations you're looking for as this will be our first retreat.

Can you send @nathan and me a personal message with some of your details?

Please forgive us for neglecting this for so long, now that we have Georgia (which was 55 people, with kids) behind us, and the women's retreat in a few weeks (St Louis) planned, we need to get West Coast nailed down (and summer too, soon).
So here's a question: we are focusing on Vegas, just because of the airfare difference from Sacramento or San Francisco, since we know probably more than half will be flying in.
We did Vegas before (twice actually), and it went fine, at regular hotels, off the strip. Unfortunately, the nice place we used last quoted us $110/night for April, and thats more than we want to do.

So we have a wildcard: the possibility of getting in a nice casino for a really great price, and a meeting room there - but of course that will be 'distracting' and not family friendly, having to walk thru casino floor to get to rooms.
Those of you who are likely to attend, if we were doing that and said it was best to leave kids home, would that affect your ability to come?
Please respond here, or DM me if you like. @nathan

Thanks, Nathan

You know, my knee-jerk was to think we should include the kids as a matter of principle, but we've tried a lot of different formats (including women-only and father-son coming up in the next few months), and I for one would be interested in trying an adults-only retreat at least once to experience the pros and cons of that format. I don't want to work a hardship on anyone that would have difficulties arranging child care or just doesn't want to leave the kids behind, but having a more expensive retreat is going to limit participation in other ways, so as usual, lots of variables....

That's what I'm talkin about—any decision we make here (location, price point, age restrictions) is going to affect the mix. This may end up being a tough call....

Since it's a west coast party were gonna crash this time, we figured with the drive and everything that we'd drop the kiddos of with family this time.

Or maybe it won't be that tough after all, and we're on to something here....

Brilliant!

Combine it with the right of passage retreat you've been talking about: drop the kids off in downtown Vegas for the weekend with naught but a spear and loincloth. Boom! Problem solved.
There is a house in Las Vegas
They call the rising sun
And its been the ruins of many a poor boy
And G-d I know Im one
My mother was a tanner
She sewed my new loincloth
My father was a gamblin man
Way out in Las Vegas
Now the only thing a gambler needs
Is a loincloth and a spear
And the only time you keep him satisfied
Is when hes all a drunk
Oh mother tell your children
Not to do what I have done
Spend your life in sin and misery
In the house of the rising sun

Kinda the rite of passage we already have.

Now that is funny, right there!!

For West coasters, or anybody else for that matter, if this is your first retreat, take a step of faith and go!

We just got back from the Southeast retreat, our first, and found it to be an incredible, fun, challenging and Spirit-filled weekend. Honestly, we shed tears, shared burdens and traded insights. Wonderful time. Wouldn't miss it!

I highly recommend going.

My Dove and I are really excited to finally make a retreat... but we would simply have to bring at least our youngest who is still nursing. Actually we were planning to bring the 2 year old as well, because she's never been apart from momma for several days... and it would be easier on the family member babysitting the older kids to not have a crazy 2 year old in the mix.

Not sure how or if that could work out with the adult only direction the retreat seems to be headed?
