Biblically supported information, please?

I am pretty confident that polygamy doesn't go against my Christian views, but I am having a hard time finding supporting information on it. I have a bunch of Bibles and a study Bible, but I don't know where to go. I am tired of being force-fed information about what Christianity is all about like I have been my entire life and I need to see things with my own eyes. I just don't think I have the resources to be able to fully dig through the words of the Bible to get the underlying meaning that I, or others, might be missing. And Googling the info, well, that was just useless lol. Thanks for any helpful comments.

Hello, Andria. Welcome to the board.

One of our members posted a good introductory book as a series of Blogs at http://sexmarriagebible.blogspot.com/ . Many of us have read it and find it well worthwhile.

If you go to the Biblical Families Home Page, and from there to Links, you'll find several books downloadable in e- form. Both the old one by Campbell, and Tom Shipley's books are personal favorites and quite Biblical.

Then, if you keep browsing posts and topics here, you will find quite a number of good threads that go into depth on specific topics.

And, of course, if you have specific questions, you're welcome to either post in threads or PM members privately.

But where to start? *grin* Genesis 2. God said it isn't good for man(kind) to be alone. God never changes. It still isn't good for humans to be alone, and marriage is the appropriate not-alone method. There are more women around than men. Either God got to create some more men out of mud, bump some women off, do some involuntary sex changing, or ... polygamy. Do the math. *grin* What do you find as you read the Bible stories? Guess that must be His solution. Works for me. *another grin*

Cecil, THANK YOU! haha, I have just started reading it and I've already bookmarked it lol. I once had a friend go through a ton of names of Old Testament men who were Godly men who were also polygamous, which was pretty fascinating information, for me, so it's nice to have this stuff laid out like this.

As Cecil noted, Andria, there is quite a bit of such information in the threads here on BF.

Easier to find, perhaps, are the FAQ files on the Board Index. Here are a couple of those that address the main issues, and which are expressly intended to be much briefer than "book length":

"A Brief Biblical Understanding of Polygyny"

(This one has been posted in the threads as well in the past, and is also linked at:

"Hit Me With Your Best Shot"
(Biblical arguments concerning polygyny)

Finally, there was an article put up to address some of the worst, but oft-repeated, arguments against the Biblical understanding of marriage:

Blessings in your study!
