Cecil's in the Emergency Room...

Hello everyone...

I just talked to CecilW. He is in the Steven's County Medical Center ER. He has been severely ill with vomitting for over 24 hours accompanied by stomach pain, GI distress, as well as having a wound on his foot that will not heal. They have done a CT scan, blood work, EKG, and GI sample trying to find out what is causing this. It does not appear to be food poisoning, but rather there is a possibility that he has Staph infection in his foot. He has been taking antibiotics to fight against the infection for quite some time to no avail.

Please pray for him that the doctors would figure out exactly what is going on and that the Lord would completely heal him head to toe even if the doctors cannot identify the problem!. They currently have him on Demerol for the pain; Zofran for the nausea; and IV fluids for the dehydration. He is pretty out of it at the moment (Cecil floating on a cloud! LOL Kinda cute, him being all warm and fuzzy! LOL), but finally he is no longer in pain and the GI issues have settled down. He is pretty sure they will be admitting him. The ER phone number is (706)282-4288. You can request that they provide a cell phone for him to call you back until he is admitted. At this point, there is no particular room number until they come up with a diagnosis.

Thank you all in advance for your prayers and support to our dear brother in the Lord!

With love through the Holy Spirit,

I sent him a text - do you know if his personal cell is working?

Those of us who are still awake here will be praying for him tonight, and we will pray as a family for him tomorrow morning.

Thanks Eternitee!

I don't think his personal cell has minutes on it right now. They just transferred him to room #394. The number they gave me is (706) 282-4394. I just talked to him, and he is not doing so hot. The pain is back and the Demerol is not holding enough and they won't be able to give him anymore until 12 midnight, which is another hour. He didn't sound good at all. I feel really bad for him that there is no one at the hospital with him. :( Hopefully, after they give that to him again he can get some sleep.

Again...thanks for your prayers!

In Him,

Tell him we're praying too when you speak to him. I'll keep off the phone in the hope he will sleep...

Oh no! I hope he stabilises soon. Tell him I am thinking of him. x

Ditto to Samuel. I am not sure how much help it will be if we all start calling. If you could pass our messages/prayers along to him Deborah and give us updates as you get them?

If he does get to the point where he is bored and would like to receive some phone calls to take his mind off things let us know. I don't want him to think we are not calling because we don't care!

I am so sorry to hear this. Cecil, we will be praying for you and for a complete recovery. Hang in there!

Hi everyone.

Hi Everyone!

Cecil says hi and sends his thank you's for all the prayer and support.

I'm going to dictation what he is saying now over the phone as follows:

"Thank you everyone for your prayers. I appreciate them so much and I know God listens. On the news side, my foot is in slightly better shape than we thought, and the digestive problems are settling down. Nonetheless, the doctor says I will be here at least one week. My spirit is cheerful, I'm praising God, sleeping a lot, praying, and thinking of all of you with thanks. That's all the news for now. CecilW."

I, too, thank you for all your encouraging words!

Well it seems good that your foot is better than first thought. Prayers for you to our Lord from me too Cecil...

Just thinking of you Cecil, hoping you are home by now, and feeling much much better. Know our prayers are with you. An update would be super :)

Hi Everyone!

Sorry for not posting a recent update. Here is the scoop:

Night before last Cecil's mom called me and told me Cecil was requesting a call from me as soon as possible. Obviously, that was concerning. I had not talked to him for about a day and a half. When I spoke to him, he sounded really bad again. He asked me to contact the nursing station to ask them what medications they had changed that could have caused such a turn around for the worst. From what I gathered, they had changed his antibiotic regimen, and apparently, the new medications were not working like the ones he was first put on upon admission. The nurse told me that he had refused his IV antibiotic the previous night and that the doctor would be in to see him the next morning (yesterday morning). Cecil said that he felt like he was being poisoned. He was in pain again, very nauseated, and unable to eat or drink anything. Basically he had gone back to about as bad as he was when he first went into the hospital, which is weird because they had told him he would most likely be able to go home Tuesday morning. Instead, they had to put a PICC line in his chest for his IV because too many of his veins were collapsing.

Cecil spoke with his doctor yesterday morning and told him that since they had switched his medications around he had gone down hill and that he did not want to take whatever they had given him anymore. He asked the doctor to please switch him back to the medication regimen they originally started him on, as that seemed to work the best. His doctor agreed, and by last night, Cecil was doing much better.

I think that Cecil refusing the medication that was making him worse was a good thing to do! Patients often know their body better than what the doctors come up with, and in this case, Cecil was correct. He will still be in the hospital for a while. There is no expected discharge date at this point because they have to get him back to where he was days prior and then go from there. That is another reason they put the PICC line in; that is, long-term IV treatment. His foot is stablizing, but has not cleared up by far. That will take time, long-term antibiotics, and wound care through the diabetic foot clinic there both as an inpatient and an outpatient.

I hope this helps fill in the details of his condition a bit for you all. I will write more once I talk to him again.

Thank you all for your prayers for Cecil!

In Him,
