Hi, I'm Meritxell from Madrid, Spain. I'm a young graduate in languages- and work as a translator and interpretor. I have a young child from a non-relationship but am now fiancée to a man who is familiar with both biblical marriages and to your religion. My flat is small and anarchic, so our plan is to share the family home with my boyfriend, Al, and his first wife Emma- and I stay there sometimes. I have been reading your forum for some time, and find it really useful, but at the moment I'm a little ignorant of some of the themes- especially religion, or problems with people who understand less about these type of relationships. I may be able to contribute to the forum sometimes as you all seem really nice and seems like you want to accept new members.

Shalom and welcome.

Welcome, you will find us to be an interesting mix. :)

Welcome

Hi Chelle, and welcome to Biblical Families! If you have any questions, feel free to ask. We have a ladies chat just for the women that you are welcome to be involved in. It's Monday 7.30pm Eastern time in the USA, and I think I work that out to be about 1.30am on a Tuesday morning for you. Not the usual time one wants to be up chatting, but if you make it we'd love to have you. There are others in Europe that do come at the time of the day, so you wouldn't be alone :).

Perhaps you could give us some details of your religious background. There are no right or wrong answers in that. It just helps us have a better context of who you are as a person.

Thanks- I have very little religion when I was young. I go to Bahá'í meetings occasionally- because I believe in common sense, universal virtues like being nice, getting along and living modestly and working hard. I'm open to my boyfriend's views, and have believed for some time that men are polygamous (although a lot don't deserve to be so (lol))- I lived with my dad for a long time, and observed his male friends. I don't smoke, take drugs or drink alcohol... hope that helps

Thanks for your kind words and invitation. I feel a bit nervous about contributing- I'm a simple trainee second wife with an unruly toddler beside me- but I would love to be able to join you in the future.

My wife and I travel to Israel often and on our last trip we drove up to Haifa and visited the stunningly beautiful Baha'i gardens. I don't really know anything about the religion, but that is an amazing mountainside!!

I haven't been, but I've come across people who have lived there, and are really transformed. Pure goodness comes through many prisms. I'm drawn to this site because of circumstances, but there seems to me an amazing creative, special mixed bag of people writing in this forum- so thanks for the welcome!!

Glad you noticed. We are a mixed bag of ideas, viewpoints, circumstances, financial resources, education, backgrounds, and more, however, what sets us apart from other poly sites is our reverence for the Holy Scriptures and the guidance it gives us in our understanding of polygyny (hence BIBLICAL Families). We have great faith in a great Savior. I hope you see that part of us as well.

Thanks for the comments and the thoughtful response- I know it takes time to write any comment, so it is kind of you to do so. I'm new to this site, so with a bit of patience I will be able to understand the spiritual side of the people here, and the love and common sense behind it.

Welcome!

Regarding religion, I think it might help you to understand our perspective if you consider that, first and foremost, we don't follow Christianity because we think it teaches universal virtues, is nice, lovely, good for our lives, or any of that. It's not about us, and it's not about our lives.
It's about God. We recognise that the world is so complex that it could not have originated by chance, but most have come from Somebody. A Creator. Who would be the most important person in the universe, and would own us (because He made us). If so, the most important thing in life would be to get to know Him.
Because He is wiser than we are, when we find His guidance for our lives (religion) and follow it, our lives do work out much better than they would if we just did whatever seemed best to us. So it is virtuous, nice, lovely, and good for our lives. But that's not actually the point. That's just a side effect.
The fundamental point of Christianity is to get to know our Creator, and have a personal relationship with Him.

I'm not trying to preach to you, you were just discussing this and I thought I'd mention it in case it helps you understand us, and your boyfriend, a bit better. Christianity might make more sense if you look at it from this different angle.
