Church near Knoxville TN

I am looking to find a church that doesn't look down on plural marriages. I am not involved yet but something is drawing me to finding a family that is loving and caring. Right now tho I want to reconnect my faith in God so I can be happy in a relationship with others.

Welcome to the forum, love4me. Thank you for having the courage to sign up and post here.

In most cases, finding a church that supports plural marriage will be a fruitless journey. Most churches do not even have a policy regarding polygyny, or if they do, it is not favorable. I would suggest attending a church that is scripturally founded to reconnect with your faith as a means of supporting your reconnection. We must all be Berean in our walk with the Lord, so do not take every teaching as being the truth. Being open about your belief regarding marriage might not be good at this point if you are trying to reconnect with your faith.

I would suggest that the marriage and polygyny side of your spiritual walk be fed through ministries like this one here at Biblical Families. This might be the only place that you will receive the support that you need regarding your marriage beliefs. Connecting with the ladies in the private forum is also a great idea and would give you the opportunity to ask questions and be supported without interference.

As a by product, if you are feeling led that you might eventually live in a plural marriage situation, then this would be the first place to look for finding your family. Most here are open, supporting, or looking, so after you do reach a point where you feel like seeking, then you will already have established friendships, and a better sense of what this lifestyle is all about.

Blessings to you from the Most High.

Thank you for yor reply. I will look for a church around that has some core beliefs and start from there. I'm not very knowledgable about the bible so I have been doing some bible studies on my own. Someday I will know when the right family has come to start my journey.

Welcome to the forum. I believe you are in the right place here. I echo Paul's remarks. I went from church to church even long before God showed me the truth about Biblical polygyny. If I had had that belief at the time, it would have only made things harder. God eventually took me out of the 'church' at large and raised me up Himself to start a home church and eventually took me out of the United States altogether.

If you will simply pray and study the Word, He will raise you up to be the person He wants you to be as well. I am certain that several people here have experienced this to some degree, as certainly they did not come to the truth about plural marriage through teachings from the pulpit, but in spite of them. This is not to say that you should not attend a local congregation, you should. However as Paul said, you will not likely find a warm reception if you bring up the idea of plural marriage as being of God. It is better to establish what truth you can get from the leaders and enjoy the fellowship and let God show you the rest Himself. We are here to help in any way that we can.

You will find that many of us are in the same boat when it comes to a local congregation. I look forward to hearing more from you.

Be blessed,

Dr. Ray

What is a home church?

A home church is pretty much what it sounds like - a teaching situation or fellowship held in an individual's home, love4me.

When my family was beginning to "study for ourselves" like the Bereans, as is advised in Acts, God put us in touch with a family via my wife B. They held a Sabbath study (Saturday morning, in their case) in their house. They invited us to attend, and we found a wonderful situation in which to learn (starting "from the Beginning", in Genesis, or "Bereshit" in the Hebrew).

One wonderful thing about them is that they can be created by Him 'from scratch' as necessary, and thrive even under persecution -- such as is the case in China today, for just one example.

I am personally convinced that as more and more people reject the government-licensed and politically-correct, corporate "church", the home church will once again, as it was in the first century, become the primary place where God's Word will be heard.

Blessings,

Mark

That sounds even better to me. I have been to a few churches and felt like I was going to a fashion show instead of church. After the end of next week things will settle down and I might start one on my own and maybe find a family near here to continue with.

Where should I start? the beginning of the bible or is there a chapter that is better then others to start with?

I'm a big fan myself of starting "in the Beginning" with Bereshit, or Genesis. As one who turned away from the Bible for too many years, I had to be convinced as a skeptic - and I found that a genuine "Hebrew roots" approach was what worked for me. Literally EVERYTHING that follows is based on the 'torah', the five Books of Moses.

As such, I have since become convinced that one cannot really understand the rest of the Bible, and in particular the Word Made Flesh, without understanding why He said He would not change "one yod or tiddle" of the torah so long as "heaven and earth" still exist. (Or, for that matter, what's a yod or tiddle? :) )

Blessings,

Mark

love4me,

Someone gave me a great women's study Bible entitled Women of Faith Study Bible published by Zondervan Publishing House. This was the only book that helped me get through reading the whole Bible. On each page it gives little sidebars of information to paraphrase the intent of the page. It has weekly studies and detailed information regarding some important women in the Bible.

I have a reading comprehension problem, so this study Bible was a great help. I think learning the basic teachings first is important before you jump up to trying to become a Bible scholar right away. I found out that asking for our Heavenly Father's help in understanding His Word really works!

Welcome to this site and hope you find lots of great people to share His Word with.

I will check it out.. thanks

You're welcome! I'm here to learn too thanks to all these fine folks on this site!

Bless you greatly Paul.

I'm also new here and have not read too many posts as of now, but your post, and indeed the Topic author's post also, have lifted me up. You have a gift for understanding a great deal about the practical side of all this, and it is reflected in your guidance in this post. It is near letter perfect in so many ways. That is why I'm quoting it to give it greater currency and attention.

My gift is as, what should I say, I guess as a theoretician, philosophy, and biblical exegesis person. Having advanced degrees in English doesn't hurt in that calling, and being a lifelong strong Christian helps too.

Thus, I write an awful lot, (all unpublished as of now) on the subject of PM, (as I have picked up you folks often call it.) I have only been on here a few days, but learned so much from you people who have walked the walk, so to speak. I haven't, but I have walked it intellectually, and academically so to speak. We all have something different to offer, and we all must just find what that is and be happy doing that and respectful of those who do other parts of the cause.

Look forward to reading more of your everyday introductory type advice.

I want to serve our God, save our people and Republic, and I somehow feel that this movement is part of that. I just can't connect all the dots yet. In service to God, I don't rule anyone in or out, but hope for good from all. Many a time a despised minority has risen to from being last to being first.
