Paul didn't teach against the commandment of circumcision. Instead, he taught against the Rabbinic ritual of making proselytes.
This paper, "The Theological Signifance of Circumcision", discusses what circumcision is about in much detail.
I'm sure that we'll have a lively discussion. Remember to keep it above the belt!
Please keep in mind that Paul was close to the Sanhedrin and an outstanding Rabbinical scholar who was trained by the great Rabbenu Gamliel. His mind was a Rabbinic mind and his arguments were Rabbinic arguments, so he has been terribly misunderstood by well-meaning men for millennia. However, a trained Jewish mind with knowledge of what Paul understood can understand him much better, and we have in our recent generations had many more Jews returning to the faith and bringing with them some of that knowledge that the church lost. Remember, there wasn't much dialogue between the church and the Jews between the various persecutions they suffered at our hands. So, it is understandable that our teachers didn't learn much from them. And, with our terrible anti-semitic attitudes towards the People of the Book it's no wonder we didn't learn from them. Who would want to learn from someone you think you're better than?
