Curious about average IQ around here

It really isn't that important, but I wonder what the average IQ would be around here. I'm pretty sure it would be well above average. Pattern recognition is one of the primary advantages of higher IQ. Those of us around here have seen through the bogus arguments of the mono only crowd.

I don't know what my IQ is, probably not very high, but I was a monogamy-only believer and preacher until asked some simple questions by a woman who was also M-O. It's not really fair to label us all as nerds; perhaps just badly informed and uncritical in our thinking. People often believe things until they have a need or compulsion to change those beliefs. The real issue is with those who have been challenged or have learnt that their beliefs have no solid foundation but refuse to accept the evidence for a change in their beliefs. That is true for those who hold the M-O or evolution beliefs, or whatever. The evidence is clear but people refuse to accept it. We see examples throughout the Bible of people pointedly challenged by God over their wrongful beliefs but who refuse to change those beliefs; those are the ones most critically castigated by our Lord God, and are both examples and warnings to us. Some M-O people, like I previously was, might just be slow learners who hold erroneous beliefs, but we can learn and grow in the truth. The best thing is to keep teaching the truth and see whose minds are changed to conform to the truth - even if they have lower IQ's. Shalom.
 
I do not know, they allow truck drivers to hang around.
 
It is more about wisdom, honesty, pride, and drive.

IQ?

I think it's about understanding biblical definitions.

I have nine children with one man and I would be with him if he lived in a million dollar mansion, or a cave. I'd stay with him if I was his only woman.....and wouldn't leave if he got another.

Some would think I'm dumb, some that I'm crazy.

I was just joking with the "nerds" comment, calling us the nerds, not those who do not see through the monogamy only argument. Sometimes it is difficult to see obvious truths. Sometimes we seem to blind ourselves.

Intelligence has very little to do with career choice and/or formal education. Besides that truckers are often very knowledgeable. You all have a lot of time on the road to listen to things. Listening to the conversations around here makes it clear that there are some very sharp and knowledgeable people in this site.
 
Didn't Griggs v Duke Power Company make it illegal to publish IQ results?
 
If we all agreed on a specific test to do, it might be a fun competition to all do it and see who wins, provided we're all honest and do it just once rather than practicing over and over until we can get a perfect score! Maybe sharing the results in a private conversation among the competitors though so we're not boasting / embarrassing ourselves (depending on the result) on a public forum. And avoiding what @Keith Martin just brought to our attention if true.

That post of mine was a joke. Actually, the U.S. Supreme Court decision to which it refers was and remains a complete joke.

If anyone is truly interested in the subject of IQ, s/he shouldn't pass up the opportunity to read The Bell Curve before the progressives fully outlaw it.

Some psychometric tests have been so thoroughly empirically studied that it's folly to question their legitimacy.

What I would find very intriguing would be to see what kind of results people get on the Rorschach Test. I'll even bring my set of cards to conduct it at a gathering if enough people were interested.

Could be useful, but it's on the road toward being the equivalent to a newspaper horoscope versus having one's astrological chart drawn up by even someone with just the minimal amount of expertise in the matter.

The Rorschach Test, unlike an IQ test, is a subjective test and is decidedly not intended to be a multiple-choice test. What they've done here is give you choices among the most common answers, but a large minority of people doesn't choose from among those most common answers. The result is that you get skewed into the Bell Curve, not to mention that the most natural reaction to seeing a list is to compare everything on the list and come to a decision about which is the best answer (i.e., that which will be considered the best answer by people at large; most people will protest that they would never be influenced by a desire to receive approval, but empirical research has demonstrated the opposite). The point of the Rorschach is to get someone's immediate reaction; if they don't come up with something quickly, the administrator is instructed to move right on to the next card -- and come back for a second pass with even more brief of an interval. One can even learn something from a reaction of resistance to voicing an opinion.

Taking that test online is probably comparable to taking a 10-question online survey about likes and dislikes and then choosing one's lifetime career based on the results.

I have ended up disavowing the vast majority of everything associated with my former field of psychotherapy, but the Rorschach exists in the category of exceptions (as do most highly-refined psychometric tests). Rorschach went to the trouble of empirically testing the thousands of ink blots he created until he narrowed them down to set of 10 that survived. Each was chosen because the reactions to it correlated with a particular category of the psyche. For example, there is a father card and a mother card, because the reactions people have tend to reflect the nature of the relationships they have with each of their parents.
