Differences in a relationship

Many men and women on here have dated or in a relationship with someone who of course has different viewpoints. My question is how do you keep the fire going without making a negative comment to your spouse about not liking what they like in life.

I'm not sure I understand the question fully. I suppose it may have much to do with how large of a difference there is between the two.

In many cases I would think it come down to a James chapter 3 issue with how we use our tongue. Also, Phil. 2:4 teaches us to look out for not only our interests but the interests of others. For example, a man may not naturally like some hobby of his mate. But out of love he may try to learn about it and get involved in it so he can have time with his mate in that area.

Also, if the issue is a serious difference it sometimes wise for the two to agree to set a time to talk about it. In this way the two can prepare their minds to the topic and be ready to discuss at a set time. Sometimes it is the unplanned discussions of differences that lead to conflict and statements that hurt one another.
