27 “He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, 28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’
Luke 16:27-28 NIV 2011
Do you think this man repented and was still suffering forever or that he continued to be unrepentant?
I might have heard people imply that the guy repented after he was in "hell" but could never leave? Can this be Biblically supported or refuted?
If someone never chooses to repent it would follow that their suffering would be endlessly self-inflicted by their own endless choice to continue sinning ("ever-increasing wickedness") but if someone repents afterwards why not let them leave "hell?"
19 I am using an example from everyday life because of your human limitations. Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness.
Romans 6:19 NIV 2011
Also do people know they will be eternally punished or that they are being evil before they "go to hell," I heard people who had near death experiences on T.V. claim something like that they, "did not know/believe there was a hell," until they had their near death experience. I do not find it plausible that anyone would sincerely be an atheist out of knowledge. Do you think people really do not believe in "hell?"
The problem with getting ideas from near death experiences is that near death experiences are not the same as post-death experiences.
