It isn't easier but it also isn't harder.
Once a family has made it to where they have a second wife then they're already doing the things that make their family a good place for a third wife.
And yes, if it gets harder with more than one wife then the issues need to be sorted out.

A lot depends on how you regard the challenges and difficulties of life. Whether you have 1 child or 6 children, there will be challenges. Same with wives. This world is under the curse and is populated by sinners who sin. If you are the sort of person who gets cranked over the small things, who doesn't learn and grow through the challenges of life, who doesn't desire to become more like Jesus Christ and lead his wife/wives and children to maturity in Christ, it will be a harder road to walk.
One person can become a burden on others however, if the goal of each one is the blessing and betterment of the family, you can work through the hard times. Narcissists (husband, wives, or children) are the most difficult people to deal with in a family situation and make it hard for everyone else.If it gets harder with more wives, are you doing something wrong?
I heard this too, and I do understand why people say it, but there is a lot of nuance involved and it really isn't that accurate. It's easier to have more children when you have much older children. 2 is better than 1, but once they can play together etc. Before that it's incredibly difficult. When more come, if you're having them very close together, it is not at all easier until they're much older. I had 7 children in 10 years, my oldest was 9 when my last child was born. That was not in any way easy, or easier than having less.
Where is does make a difference, is when you have older children than can help. My oldest is now 16, and if I had a baby now he would be incredibly helpful. Many large families have much larger spread of children, and say it's easier to have more, but it's the spacing that really makes the difference.
How does this correlate with wives? No idea. Maybe having older, more experienced wives is better before you bring a new wife in?
It’s harder, in the aspect of it’s more work. The husband can’t just sit on a couch and coast through life, like he may have been able to do with one wife. Multiple wives require more time and more effort to make each individual marriage successful. More hands can make household work easier though. In my opinion it’s both more rewarding and more work at the same time.
I can say as a third wife there are many challenges. One challenge if being brutally honest is from the wife perspective you may not get what you perceive as equal time or attention etc. and that is a hard thing to reconcile that each marriage is different and has its own needs. As previously mentioned you might in monogamy get to coast through your marriage and you can’t coast through marriage in polygyny. Polygyny will challenge everything in you both good and bad. It will bring out all your character flaws and it will show all your strengths as well. I would even venture to say it’s the one relationship that you can’t hide yourself in. Polygyny will expose your flaws in the your relationship with Christ too. If you have issues with submitting to headship polygyny will expose it. If a Husband has problems loving his wife like Christ loves his brides it will be exposed in this life. Now, there are some major benefits as well, for example one of my sisterwives works part time so I cook most nights and she does the dishes this is a huge benefit. I think with everything you have to weight the cost.
