FORGIVENESS

Forgiveness means different things to different people. I would like it if we could all give our definitions for forgiveness and also if anyone has examples or stories to tell.

I never really understood what forgiveness was until I met Pastor Randy and T. When I gave forgiveness it was in words only. I would still hold a grudge and never let the person forget that I remembered what they had done. I truly acted like the only thing required was that I stop fighting about it. After we started being a family, I had to really understand what forgiveness was. I guess it isn't good to be a Pastor's wife and not know. In the end I realized that forgiveness means to release any debt that we believe is owed to us.

The irony of it is that if we believe that a debt is owed to us, then the person who owes it can never pay us back. It will never be sufficient. Just like nothing we can ever do for God will ever pay back what He sacrificed for us.

I like this definition of forgiveness and agree wholeheartedly this is definitly the forgiveness that was extended to us through Messiah's death.
