Hey, is there any who homeschool. It can be tuff for starters. Through the challenges, i decided to post this message so we can share and help one another in the obstacles, of being a wife, homemaker, mother, household duties, and teaching all the kids, andd making sure you attend to everyone including hubby. It can get overwelming for the unknowledgable at times, but God makes it easy when we rely on him daily.

I know many womne struggle,, but I depend on God daily to help me. In all of this we can not miss out on our ultimate goal which is doing God's will. Striving to be the best example, and pursuing love, and attending to God's will everyday. It can be confusing but that's where my husband comes in it, he's the leader, and helps me make all the right decisions, I couldnt do it without him. He helps me get through my tuff days. I know many women struggle to put everything in its right place. God, family, chores, school. But I thank god for my position as a homemaker, I wouldnt desire to get into much else. I love being a mom, I love to cook, I love to crotchet, knit, sew, I love to have time to myself, I love to spend time with my husband. It sometime doesnt seem like enough time in the day, or rather should i say, i want to get more done in the day, knowing how to manage time and do everything you want.

I was homeschooled. I loved it, cause my parents gave me plenty of leeway when it came to assignments, etc. :P

My wife and I homeschool our two boys who are 16 & 14. The first year was quite a struggle but the payoff was worth it. Our elder son has some mild learning disabilities and constantly got into trouble when he would get frustrated. Homeschooling allows him to learn at his pace and not have the specter of being sent to the office constantly in his mind. We have been blessed to find a wonderful used Christian book store in Springfield MO which has several rooms of homeschooling materials at very reasonable prices. It's a three hour drive but with good planning, we only need to go once a year. What's nice is that they buy back most of what we purchased last year :D .

In light of the tragedy in Conneticut this past week and the ever expanding agendas of the anti-Christian groups and teacher's unions, I'm convinced that homeschooling is the only sane choice left.

I definately agree with you on this one. It's kinda scary thinking about what if that was my child, woah, but through it all, God has hands on all of us.

I have only 2 kids, ages 9 and 2. I homeschool but we use an unschool/Montessori method. Very relaxed. My son has ADHD, odd, anxiety. He was in public school where he was told he was behind all the time and made to feel he is stupid. We are going very easy and slow so he can build confidence and regain his love for learning, as of right now he hates it pretty much. I think if he can read, write, do math, and knows Gods word he'll be fine. He doesn't have to become a dr to impress me!

We have homeschooled our children for the last 16 years. We do different things each year, depending upon money, schedules, family needs, etc.

Teaching my children to learn is far more important than teaching them subjects. Since my parents ran a Christian school my entire childhood, it is very easy for me to want to find the "right" curriculum and make sure my kids are meeting the "right" goals and educational milestones. However, we want our children to succeed in life, not just pass standardized tests, so we're working more on learning how to solve problems, how to gain wisdom instead of just knowledge, and how to work HARD.

I like what you are doing sola scripture, that is important. I dont have a curriculum yet, but I follow the common core guidelines, and teaach them in a formed structured way. My curriculum includes all the basics, and now incorporating math, spelling and reading ito daily life. This is my first year, and I got momentum from my Mom who made up her own curricullum with her son. Soon we are planning on getting Abecca. I use the internet which has alot of stuff already layed out for plain old free. Why not save, but we are planning on getting abecca.
Is there any curriculum that you all know about that is worthwhile to look into.

I have heard time for learning is good, but I recommend ABEKA. Our daughters were both 3 months early and because we have used ABEKA they both rank top in their class. Our 7yr old is on a 4th grade level in all subjects and ranked the highest score in reading that the school she is going right now has ever seen a 1st grader rank. Our 5 year old can do work on a 1st grade level. It comes from how ABEKA presents the work to the children and how the parent teaches it.

We are planning to pull our kids at spring break. Right now I am leaning toward the Heart of Dakota curriculum. I am excited to get started, and a little terrified.

I would love to get more insight about homeschool, if more experienced teachers would be happy to discuss.
ages from 3years old to 7 years old, what were your experiences?

Foreign languages like Aramaic, Hebrew and Greek are supposedly easiest learned as children, but I think they usually teach Spanish, French and German if anything in public schools instead.

I found this website for teaching children Greek but I seem to remember it not working well when I tried to use it (not to teach a child but to teach an adult.) Maybe some computer bugs (as in errors) or too basic for me. I do not remember why I quit it.

Hey, I recently found a great HOMESCHOOL PLANNER completely free, its been a big help, I always write on paper so this has been great because its hard to keep track just writing daily plans, the planner is very organized.
Check it out http://www.home-school-inc.com and click on free homeschool planner, do the plan course work, for begginners, becuase it is easier, pm me for questions.

We homeschool, too :D

I like Lifepac by AOP for our younger children (ages 5, 7 & 9). Our 13 year old uses Monarch by AOP which is an online program. Our 17 year old, who is finished with school now, used Monarch for his final year as well. I also like My Father's World for young children.

I've tried several different curricula over the years and I prefer a more laid-back curriculum that I can incorporate things as I see fit. The more established ones like ABEKA or Bob Jones are very good, but I could only use them when I had one student. There was so much bookwork to them that I couldn't see myself teaching 5 different grades at the same time and actually getting any sleep ever at all :? But that's just me.

I hope it goes well for you!

We homeschool as well! We use amblesideonline.com and Khan Academy. It's all free and we absolutely love it! Ambleside is a Charlotte Mason style curriculum that uses living books to teach nearly all subjects. Khan Academy we use for math and some history too. I adore spending the days with my children and watching those "light bulb" moments happen!
