Hello.
We get synchronicity when psychology flirts with quantum physics. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synchronicity
Critics dismiss it as unscientific and points out Jung's involvement with the occult.
I have often observe synchronicity as defined by Jung, the latest of which was yesterday. Or maybe I'm just seeing patterns in random and unrelated events.
Yesterday morning, I was leafing through the papers in my table and decided to work with a report which was sitting there for 2 days already. So I drafted and finished a memo by mid morning. Near lunch, a fellow came up and said his son is sick in Cebu (That's an island a night's trip away by ship) but he can't visit him because he doesn't have the fare. He showed me a letter from the mayor addressed to a shipping line requesting free passage for the guy. Unfortunately, they will only give a discount, not free passage.
Our office is near the port area and he said something about being involved with forest protection so maybe that's why he thought to try his luck in the office. So I told him to leave the letter and come back mid afternoon.
I already have somebody in mind to solicit some money from but I was not sure I can get the whole amount for the fare. Before I went out for lunch, I grabbed the memo I have prepared that morning and proceeded to another office, thinking of using it as an opening before I went in for the kill.
So I was showing the memo to this office boss and discussing it. He called one of his subordinates, saying that I already did his work for him.
So I showed the boss the letter for the shipping company, asking if he has something to spare. I'd say I was a tad disappointed because he coughed up only a tenth of the amount required, saying I should pass the hat around. It's already lunch time by then.
So I approached a friend in the said office who gave me the same exact amount. He told me to approach the guy whose work I inadvertently did (the memo I have prepared). Now, I'm a bit apprehensive about it because that fellow is not exactly known to be generous. But, anyways, I inhaled deeply and showed him the letter.
Well, miracles do happen. He gave me half the fare. Before I went to lunch, I already had the whole amount for the fare, with some other people in the said office chipping in.
I somehow see a connection between the memo I decided to prepare that morning and that amount worth half the fare.
I told my daughter about it that evening. She asked me what could have made the man walk into my office and ask for my help.
I told her:
1.) Our office is in the port area and the largest compound too, he must be thinking we could easily come up with the amount.
2.) he has worked as a forest protection officer (in a different office, I didn't even asked where 'cause I know it's going to be a vague connection... Like I'm the cousin of the cousin of the cousin of...) and we deal with forest protection.
3.) God guided his steps 'cause he need to be on a ship that evening and he need that money fast. And God knows He has servants in our office who are ready to obey Him, not make excuses.

I had a feeling it was a test of my faith and commitment.
I was thankful for the opportunity.
