Where to begin ...
I grew up in a devout Protestant home, was confirmed as I got older (but it was just a ceremony to me). I was saved in high school at a city-wide crusade (I'd never been to a revival before). This made me want to search the Scriptures and find out about other Christian faiths.
The beginning of my senior year of high school God led me to join a Baptist Church and be baptized by immersion, but I knew in my heart that it would only be for a season as I had also been studying about the baptism of the Holy Spirit and other things. A few months later a friend was sharing about a dream he had of an evangelist praying with him, blowing on his forehead, and he being slain in the spirit and baptized in the Spirit. That was all in a spiritual dream. Then the evangelist came to town, and all this happened just as he had been shown. I told him I wanted to go to the revival meeting. As soon as I got to the meeting the Lord began dealing with me in a big way, and I felt a strong presence of the Lord. I went to the front when it was time. The evangelist had me lift my hands as an act of worship and receiving so that I might be baptized in the Spirit. Soon I was slain in the Spirit. I lay basking in the Lord's presence for a long time, baptized in the Spirit and praying in tongues.
I waited patiently on the Lord, and after a period of time I felt impressed to leave the Baptist Church and start attending a Spirit-filled church, so I joined a Pentecostal church in my hometown, and stayed until I graduated from college.
After college I went on to earn a graduate degree. I met my wife through a singles group at church. My wife knew that I was training to be a minister, and before we married she seemed agreeable to that, but after we were married it became evident that she does not wish to be a pastor's wife. I have sought other employment. We have been married over 20 years now and have two children.
I have been studying the Biblical Families site for about 2 weeks now, ever since a friend gave me the web address. Thanks to all who have been kind enough to become my friends on Facebook and other places. My friend called me on Thursday before he left for Dallas and asked me what I knew about polygyny and if I knew anything about DuelingBanjos. He was already one of my friends on Facebook (I guess we had some mutual friends already).
My friend who called is a true full of the Spirit brother in the Lord. I was surprised to hear him talking about polygyny, but it did not strike me in a negative way. I had been studying this topic on my own about a month or so before. I read many of the Scriptures, and it all made sense, but I put it back on the shelf until after he called me. I’m still studying a lot of things regarding this. But most of all I want God’s will to be done in all things in my life and in the lives of others.
One thing I can say is that this study has brought me closer to the Lord and it has made me be a more loving husband to my wife.
Sorry this is so long, but I hope all who read this will enjoy. The Lord has been showing me about the man being the priest of his house (which my church does not teach). Anyway, I would appreciate your prayers and also prayers for my wife and kids.
