This is an actual list of reasons for people to be admitted to the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum. Makes you shudder :?

and if you fall off a horse while not in a war, you are also out of luck.

good to know what the rules are though, what would life be like without rules?

I think it's a list of reasons given for why actual individuals were admitted, not the rules about who qualified.

What I find interesting is "Salvation Army". Was that person admitted because the Sallies said he was nuts, or because he was in the Sallies?

Asthma? Not that I don't qualify on a few other counts (you can guess which ones, ) but how does chronic inflammation of the lungs or wheezing even get on a list like this?
