Rise and fall of American empire

The rise and fall is a function of any organism. Birth, growth, maturity, stagnation, death. Happens to animals, societies, organizations, movements. This is why old denominations fall away from the faith and do little for the Gospel; glorying only in the past. They are zombies. Hence Christ's teachings on old vs. new wineskins.

Multiethic empires tend to collapse much worse than other countries because the people whose traits and moral built the empire loose influence or are bred out of existence. You can see that in Rome. After a certain point the emperors were foreign. Italians today don't look much like the statutes of ancient Romans because they're not the same people; they're an amalgamation of the various groups that invaded and conquered the peninsula.

I actually don't consider America to be it's own empire but rather the currently most prominent part of the broader English empire that has lasted almost a 1,000 years. People who are interested in numbers should watch the year 2066, the thousandth year anniversary of when most historians say England was founded. Arguments can be made for earlier dates though.

This is true, we are captive to a financial elite that is international in scope.

Something useful to think about in analyzing these is not just who the ruling class is but what they are. In Rome they were a warrior class. Early America was split between an agrarian and a mercantile ruling class (south and north respectively). With industrialization and the Civil war the later won out; but the expansion into the west and midwest preserved the power of rural america to an extent. With time the industrialists gave way to a banker elite. Maybe it was always that way that the bankers were the true power behind the merchants; but by 1913 the bankers were for sure gaining dominance. The Ag lobby was broken by the depression never to recover. The industrialists still held sway into the middle 20th but though the 80's their independent power was completely gone. The diversity of corporations now are a mere facade on top of a monolithic financial elite. Rural America now has zero power; the Ag crises of the 70s and 80s where wholly manufactured to eliminate most of the people from farming. And I mean that, I've read the position paper in the 60's where the industrialists and bankers agreed to remove 5 million farmers from agriculture in the next 5 years. Which they then proceeded to do. What we see around us isn't natural, it is the result of at least a century of large scale social engineering. Those who think we are a capitalist free market economy haven't the faintest clue what is really going on.

And the empires power really is financial. We use foreign loans to bring foreign countries to heel. We control them through the financial markets. It is a global empire; probably the largest ever. But tribute is extracted not directly like in history but indirectly through debt, through monetary policy, through trade. And hard power is welded clandestinely.
