Sad Watering down of the truth by Christian Pastor John Piper

My son brought this video to my wifes attention. While I am glad that he is researching this topic, I find it sad that he is embracing teachings like this, that are chock full of conjecture. Please pray for him. His name is Philip.

She asks about what submission will look like for her and he goes on a rant about all of her future husband's responsibilities.

He does end decently and encourages the wife to ultimately acquiesce to the husband after a "draw".

Yes, lots of conjecture.

Not the worst I've heard, but Piper lost me a while back, so I don't often listen to him.

After four days of arguing with her husband, if she hasn't worn him down, she should accept his decision. Hmmmm, sounds like rebellion rather than submission. Of course arguing for four days is going to be rare in most marriages, because most men won't last three. I wonder how many of them actually go sleep on the sofa, simply because their wife told them to.

I don't get what is up with the video. It's like he is trying to put you into some sort of a trance, so that you will open your mind to his suggestiions.

Sounds from the comments like what I witnessed growing up to some degree. Stubborn mom....dad gives in to her ideas of what is right.....but is never truly happy.

I'll pass on the video and try to not pass those kind of memories onto the next generation.

Probably a good idea. It was more or less a rambling response. It sort of seemed like he took the question as an excuse to just to go off on men and how they should act. It was a bit demeaning to men, and he didn't really address the woman's question!

Piper basically told that gal, first, that if her husband was not Christ like in every way she didn’t need to submit. Second, he told her submission will always be fun if the husband is behaving in a manner that she deems is appropriate to submit to. Third, he told her that both her husband and God himself are basically there to make life feel wonderful for her... and by extension, it’s all about her.

It's no wonder churches are basically toxic to marriages these days.
