Thanksgiving gatherings

Hopefully everyone had a good day with their family.

I am happy to report that my wife and I won Thanksgiving as it were in that our contributions were the only ones absolutely polished off. I might even be a tad smug about the request that I make my brisket burnt ends a regular in the family gatherings menu.

Beyond the one proverbial orphan guest being an absolute prize nuisance... bloody spastic that needs either to have his meds redoubled or perhaps a bally time machine and a better father to teach him some manners...grrrrr.
We normally have 2-3 orphan types in that there will be lone neighbors or friends of some family member or the other who would have otherwise spent the holiday alone. Happily none of them attached themselves to me like a damned limpet. Ugh. O6n year we had one old boy join in who was quite pleasant and a good conversationalist who it took us three hours to determine was not known to anyone there. Apparently he was supposed to have been at another home on the lane we eventually determined. Weird but not particularly out of character for the family.

Got the tree decorated and plans made for Christmas and generally a good evening.

How about everyone else?
How was your Thanksgiving?

Our Thanksgiving day has been great, mother-in-law visiting not withstanding! We have eaten our fill and played a number of rounds of Skyjoe. A fast action card game that is quite addicting. There is a puzzle on the coffee table that has occupied our time, in between times.
There is a fire going in the background and a dog under the table.... My wife and her mother are planning a shopping trip to town in the morning to scope out all the good sales.

We gave thanks and had a lot to be thankful for. God has blessed us this day!

Sounds good.

I am doing some shopping as well but happily mine will be from the comfort of home.
It is interesting you should reference them scoping out the bargains as a couple or more new optics are on my current list. Probly a few more related do dads as well. It is only by the skin of my teeth and and an unwillingness to open any of my more rare and interesting whiskies for the holiday which has saved me from pulling the trigger on a Jerry Mitnick(sp?) Mossberg 590 which has me quivering and comping the bit.
Two will get you ten that I don't make it to the new year without a handful of new play pretties.

Glad you had a good Thanksgiving

We had a lovely dinner. 21 people all family but one neighbor we are on good terms with. Turkey and lamb (both roasted and smoked) all the trimmings, and 14 PIES (because our children think the pie is the main thing).

I am very thankful that our children and son in law are still living... and we are all well. My sw's mom joined us for dinner too. That was very nice.

Now it feels like the end of the day....because it is.

I hear ya! For whatever reason, I still do not have any AR's. I have plenty of traditional weapons but no AR styles. I need to fix that injustice in my life! :-)

Well...I can make loads of recommendations in re where bargains are to be found if you have an interest.
There is a good starter one from Anderson Arms Utility for $329. Perfectly serviceable stock but if you are the type that likes the idea of dropping in a better trigger or doing a full swaggy build out then this is a decent starting place. Or I can point you to all sorts of merchants who are my go to for the best prices for this and that...sgammo for example for the best prices I have found. Over $200 and it is free shipping, regardless of weight and quantity. Lots of their cases come packed in a military surplus ammo can. Good for carrying and stacking obviously.
