"There should be a constitutional amendment limiting marriage to, and defining it as, unions between one man and one or more women."

This ingenious idea brought to you by the Citizens for a Righteous Society (http://rscitizens.org).

Where do you put your trust?

(you knew it was coming)

Sadly, we did. There's truly nothing new under the sun.

God has already defined marriage. Those who can read already know where rejecting Him and choosing an earthly king ALWAYS leads.

And since when has Big Brother paid any attention to what the last guy called that "G...D... piece of paper" anyway?

Please stop being a wet blanket and do something to help your homeland. When wicked men monopolize the political landscape, it's because good men refuse to get involved in politics. And, like it or not, politics determine how freely you live. If you don't fear the Government, as you claim, then stop paying taxes. After you're thrown in prison, try to convince the guards that you're there because you don't want to leave. Neglect to educate your children as the State demands. Go into the cities and prophecy in the nude. Forgo supermarkets and live off a garden. If you claim not to respect the Government, then spit in its face and learn harsh reality.
But above all, please, stop getting in the way of the progress of your brothers and sisters in their pursuit of liberty. Who are you to try to dissuade them from believing that there is hope, to discourage them from taking part in politics, changing the world for the better, and disproving your implication that politicians are inherently despicable?
Nobody is forbidding you from remaining in your self-imposed exile. But please don’t try to entice others into the black hole of self-righteous fatalism. It’s okay to have hope, Mark. Please stop rebuking attempts by your siblings to make life better.
Is this forum meant to be a place for us to encourage one another in the progressive realization of hopelessness? Or is it meant to be a garden of life wherein to grow dreams and aspirations, and empower one another to overcome restraints society has wrongly placed on us?

Thank you Nikki,
The reality is we are all here to lift up and encourage our brothers. Including Mark C and anyone else we don't agree with. Calling people names, putting them down, using demeaning terms and sarcasm will never be okay. This is a forum made up of adults who share two or three common beliefs. Those beliefs are plural marriage, God and patriachy. Anything else is subject to many different opinions. We all respect each other's opinions because without each other we all become islands and our lives are barren and bleak. I am a middle child and a peacemaker. That means I just want everyone to get along and when people use harsh words for each other it makes me angry.

I know it is a bit polyanna of me, but I have been accused of worse, but I would like to see people actually loving each other instead of trying to be right all the time. Each of these two people have good points, but they are in different walks of life. I try not to criticise others until I have walked a mile in their shoes. "newrevolution" has not walked in Mark C's shoes and it is likely that the reverse is true. We all have value and we should all try to encourage the good things and not bring out the bad.

It would be very nice if we could all just "play nice in the sandbox".

Thanks ladies, for being the voice of reason. Some of us may be somewhere in between on the government issue - love our country, want to pray for restoration and participate, but have our eyes wide open to what's going on around us, and know that our only real Hope comes from above.

But the amendment is really a different issue than that - I have come to the place where the the only amendment that I could support is one that says "the state shall make no laws or regulations or definitions concerning marriage."

Why even ask Caesar to regulate according to God's word, when we are told to give unto Caesar what is Caesar's and give unto God what is God's (marriage clearly being the latter).

Thanks, Nikki and Lissa. Your counsel to peace is appreciated.

I had already decided not to post my original response having to do with those who take it upon themselves to make our lives better. ;)

And thanks, Nathan - I could not agree more.

My "hope" is in Him, not in man, nor in his traditions.

Who by Him do believe in God, that raised Him up from the dead, and gave Him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. -- I Peter 1:21

The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy. -- Psalm 147:11 (and Psalm 33:18 is similar)

Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and [why] art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him [for] the help of his countenance. -- Psalm 42:5

Something I would like to say here as an observation is that in order for Isaiah chapter 4 to come to pass, I believe that the laws of the land will likely have to change in favor of polygyny. Here in South Africa, the man who is most likely going to be the next president, since his party currently has about 70% of the popular vote, is Jacob Zuma. I find his name to be symbolic as well. Although he seems to be a crook, the majority of the people who support him ‘love’ him. At last count, I understand that he has four wives. When I applied for residence here, one of the questions on the application was whether or not I was planning to be involved in polygamy, since it is frowned upon here. At the time I filled out the application the answer was 'no'. At that time I did not truly understand the importance of Isaiah chapter 4 in the ushering in of the return of Christ. Though I do not know what the law says here, I do know that when Melissa and I were married in 2003, I had to produce the divorce decrees from my other 2 marriages in order to get a marriage license here in South Africa. The political landscape and attitude toward polygyny over here will likely change when Zuma takes office. I am not certain how this will play out, but I believe it is the hand of God in action in preparation for the fullness of Isaiah chapter 4 coming to pass, since He is responsible for putting all political authority into place, good or bad, (Proverbs 16:4 and Romans 13:1).

Whether or not we choose to partake in the politics that govern our countries will probably be neither here nor there in the grand scheme of things, since God will see to it that His will is accomplished regardless of our individual beliefs and attitudes. I do not see where it is going against God to try to help change the political landscape in favor of the fulfillment of scripture. I do not think that we can stop it from coming, but are we willing to put our hand forth to try to help these scriptures to come to pass? Either we are with God and His plan, or we are against it. Supporting the politicians who wish to see change that will line up with the Word of God is a good thing, as I see it. Though I am not in a position to do much from here, I will be happy to sign the petition. Even ‘Caesar’ gets his marching orders from God. Either way we should not be too critical of one another, because as Lissa pointed out each person’s belief has merit.

Be blessed,

Dr. Ray

P.S, As John Hancock might say, "Where do I SIGN? "
