The world is obsessed with numbers

Lol, you and Zec would get along so well!

When it's perfectly acceptable to have one screaming brat in the grocery store than to tote around a well-behaved brood... you know society's done for.

I pray Zec and I can unite clans someday! I’m sure we could find a good match. I have beautiful daughters, and strong sons! Lol

Preach it sis! We have plenty of folks(usually older) compliment how well behaved our brood is, at the same time others are giving disapproving looks! lol... It’s all good... I don’t need people to approve of my excessive breeding program! The Lord does!

The problem is that people expect the former, and don't believe you could possibly have the latter. That's why their kids misbehave, because they expect it, then they see kids as horrible trying things and don't want any more.
Same thing with older siblings being 'jealous' of the new baby. It's just never been a thing in this house, ever, because I never expected that it would.

This is the truth. People don't realize how pleasant kids can be. They are not taught how to parent properly and they have low expectations so they don't know it could be any way. Kids in public are little terrors these days.

To be honest, I don't like taking my kids shopping. I get weary of constantly being told how well behaved and good they are. They're so quiet one time I had one about get run over by a grocery cart; most shoppers expect to hear them coming two aisles away.

I'm betting you don't really get tired of hearing it.....you just get tired of responding to the compliments. ;)

It's like that here with the work my guys do....I get tired of thanking people and being polite when they call and tell me what kind of awesome job they did....and how great they cleaned the yard up after......and what nice young men they are......

But I don't get tired of hearing it! :p:D

For my wife probably, women tend to be wired that way. But I'm more the introverted fly on the wall type and not at all an attention seeker; though you might not guess it from my interaction here.

But I do appreciate it that people appreciate it and it is good for the children to hear it. It helps reinforce the model. Doubly so when they witness how other kids are behaving; especially for the older ones who need to get greater understanding for their future parenting efforts.

Although the younger children sometimes pick up bad behavior from other kids in public. But they only ever try those tricks once.

Amen! It just doesn't work out quite like they planned....does it?:rolleyes:

A phrase we often use with ours when they do something like a face plant in the mud is "How'd that work out for ya?" Usual answer "Not good!" Lol
Parenting has its humorous side.

Good judgement comes from experience....and experience comes from bad judgement. Their judgement improves even if they copy bad behavior.
It's a beautiful thing!

@AmbassadorforChrist shared this link with me as a result of another thread. Watching it reminded me of this numbers thread started by @FollowingHim2 so I really wanted to share it here. Going back through this thread, the family discussions are all very interesting and edifying; however, the thread topic has morphed. Hoping this post will bring the thread topic back to center. It's an absolutely fascinatingly brilliant discussion on God's impeccable design of His universe. Sure hope ya'll enjoy!!! Presenting Dr. Jason Lisle:
