Here is the real motivation...they think that if they are able to communicate with the spiritual realm then they will be able to manipulate and control the spirits...wait until they find out it is the other way around! If/when they manage to open that portal all hell will literally break loose.

I have a friend with multiple "mental disorders" (according to medical and psychological doctors). I have learned a lot about the spiritual realm from him. It seems that his mental disorders give him an insight into the spiritual realm that most do not have. It is like he has one foot in our reality and the other in the spiritual realm. It is beyond anything I can comprehend, I have to just take what he tells me at face value...and rarely does any of it run contrary to what I see in scriptures.
There is also a pastor I met that has a radio program. In one program he talked about in his early days as a Calvary pastor he got together with other pastors and rented a hotel room. They were gathering to pray against the demonic forces at work in Los Angeles. They felt that there was so much evil taking place that they needed to pray against it (in the name of Jesus)...what happened is mirrored in the scriptures...and he isn't afraid to say that he isn't sure why it was allowed to happen...only that perhaps the demons have been allowed dominion over that area.
Acts 19:15-16 But the evil spirit answered them, "Jesus I know, and Paul I recognize, but who are you?" And the man in whom was the evil spirit leaped on them, mastered all of them and overpowered them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
He said that each of them were beaten severely in the Hotel room by demons. He also jokes that he won't be doing that again. (Steve Holt - Mountain Springs Church - Colorado Springs, CO)
Because we are not in tune with the spiritual realm we often discount it. What a mistake that is.

Very true indeed. The spiritual warfare behind the realm of what our physical eyes can see is real, alive, and a very active place that even sometimes manifests itself in this realm.
The transhuman issue makes me ask the question "How far will God let us go?".
After all, we have already had the hydrogen bomb, abortion, genetic engineering, embryonic stem cells, execution for spare parts, the list goes on.
And the answer I come up with is: He will let us go right down into the abyss, until we are wallowing in our own depravity, until we see what we have done, and beg for mercy...but it will be too late.

This came to mind...
Luke 17:26-30 Just as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the days of the Son of Man. They were eating and drinking and marrying and being given in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. Likewise, just as it was in the days of Lot--they were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building, but on the day when Lot went out from Sodom, fire and sulfur rained from heaven and destroyed them all--so will it be on the day when the Son of Man is revealed.

I was concerned when I heard it as well...until Jesus returns it seems that the demons still have the ability to act. Can you imagine a transhuman becoming possessed?
Maybe this verse sheds a little light on it:
Matthew 8:28-29 And when he came to the other side, to the country of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men met him, coming out of the tombs, so fierce that no one could pass that way. And behold, they cried out, "What have you to do with us, O Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?"
Maybe this verse sheds a little light on it:

This isn't what bothers me about the story. Demons are a DEFEATED foe. Any Christian should be able to tell them where to get off. We are God's sons (and daughters), Man's servants, and Hell's masters!
"Preach the gospel, heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons!" Those are our marching orders!
So why did this group of pastors ACCEPT the beating? Could not ONE of them say, "In the name of Jesus Christ, whom I serve, BE GONE!"?
What kind of pastors are those men now? Cowering away at the thought of any open confrontation with the devil? How can they remain and claim to be pastors? WHAT DO THEY TEACH THEIR FLOCKS!?
Distressing!
Maybe it was not demons that did it.
