What do you think about those animals that "fight" for women

Sometimes animals seem to fight and or have fighting rituals for who gets the woman or women.

What do you think about that?

Do you think animals get diseases that way by fighting for women every year, maybe they get a different woman the next year that another animal fought for and won the previous year? How does that work?

Do you think an animal could win the fight but make a horrible mate. Are there any smart animals that avoid the fight and go straight for the woman will the fighting animals are fighting? Or maybe will two animals fight for one women, they step out of the fight and go for ten unnoticed women that are not being fought for?

People are not supposed to imitate animals in everything anymore than they are supposed to poop all over the floor, for animals poop on the floor sometimes so.... this would not necessarily mean humans are supposed to do like that?

I am wondering what people think about that?

I am wondering what male and female perspectives are on that?

Re: What do you think about those animals that "fight" for w

I think fighting keeps things very simple.

Want a woman, fight and win.

Somebody tries to take your woman, fight.

Want to keep your woman, fight and win.

It gets rid of all the annoying layers of courtship and goes straight to the meat.

Nothing is more aggravating to me than to see a group of guys making fools of themselves and being overly competitive on trivial matters in order to impress 1 girl. Fighting would solve that real fast.

What if some man relocated with the girl while the two men were fighting each other too the death about a girl that was not there.

This is utterly void of grey matter !

Re: What do you think about those animals that "fight" for w

white matter is faster at transmitting electrical signals than grey matter anyway.

"White matter is composed of bundles of myelinated nerve cell processes (or axons), which connect various grey matter areas (the locations of nerve cell bodies) of the brain to each other, and carry nerve impulses between neurons. Myelin acts as an insulator, increasing the speed of transmission of all nerve signals"

Re: What do you think about those animals that "fight" for w

i think that fighting AFTER you get married is much more civilized :D

Re: What do you think about those animals that "fight" for w

Which is the more Biblical approach

Should all the men fight it out to see who gets the most women, and some men are just supposed to lose and not get any

Or

As long as men are responsible they just gradually accumulate women without fighting it out.

Re: What do you think about those animals that "fight" for w

Perhaps serial monogamists "doing what is natural" are no better than animals that poop on the floor doing what is "natural"

If you watch the primates they have to fight the other primates even after they mated with their women because as soon as they leave another one would take their woman or women.

And another animal surrounds the women with a pack of male animals, while the woman looks like she tries to escape.

Some birds only have on mate for life

People have tried to argue for or against homosexuality, monogamy, polygyny and polyandry or any number of sexual practices based on the animal Kingdom. And in fact evolution is all about sex and death. Once for instance a homosexual activist tried to claim that some animals were being lesbians and therefor it is ok for men to be homosexual. (Although in that case I think they were sharing duties of motherhood and not being lesbians anymore than two women being good friends are....)

I think the answer is we should learn not to be like the animals in many cases nor to use the animal kingdom as a point of argument in many cases and instead base our practices on the Word of God. Does anyone disagree?

26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
Romans 1:26-27 NIV 2010

So when people argue about natural in Romans 1 (and possibly elsewhere in the Bible) they ought to think more deeply about what it means in my opinion, it does not mean about copying animal nature after Adam sinned, but about the nature God desired.

Re: What do you think about those animals that "fight" for w

I THINK that what DTT is TRYING to say may be that ...

There ARE folks around who try to point us towards this or that aspect of the animal kingdom's mating realities, claiming that we should take our cue from the primates or storks or rats or wolves or 3 horned frogs, for all I know. But that while such theories are interesting, in a horror-film-like way, we're waaaaaaaay better off ignoring them, and sticking to the Biblical view we all (except Bels, whom we love anyways :) ) espouse.

How'm I doing, DTT? :o :D

I can sort of see that based on the second post by DTT, but the OP was totally out in left field somewhere!
