Story time ... at church this morning:
Leader asks a small child to hold onto his hand as they walk up the aisle. He goes too fast. Small child can't hold on and is nearly in tears. They come back up to the front.
He says, "Let's try again. This time, let ME hold onto YOUR hand". That works much better. Smiles all around.
What matters is who is holding onto whom!
Is 43:13 "I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, "Fear not, I will help you."
Breathe a sigh of relief, folks. HE is holding onto YOU and that makes ALL the difference!
But why is this in a marriage issue forum? Well ...
Have any of us heard wives saying (wailing), "I just can't DOOOOOO this!"?
Guys? Time for us to step up and make sure we're holding onto our wives during these times! Not a "control" hold, but a "security" hold, like God holds us.
Ladies? If you have a man who is trying hard to pattern himself after God ... relax. Remind him to hold on tight while you go through your hard time. But relax yourself. It isn't your job to hold onto him. It is his to hold onto you.
Of course, you could actively send him, or God, away. But unless he needs to be sent away anyway (and some of us fellas definitely DO,) where's the profit in that?
So kick back. Bring on the popcorn. And trust the One who is holding onto you.
