Why is Marriage a between Only Two?

i have traditionally liked a lot of things AIG and Ken Ham have said, but I couldn't disagree more with his stance on polygyny. That thought aside, his latest blog post seems to be bordering on incoherent to me. Wait, that is a bit harsh. It sure doesn't read well or make his point well.

No it's not particularly well written. It seems fairly heavy handed and while I suppose it's target audience is in fact Christians, I believe that the basic gist is more likely to push people into the opposite camp. I'll admit, I don't have a lot of experience with Ken. I do know that I and my family were very eager to tune in to the debate between him and Bill Nye. I thought "Finally! A real chance to show people Christians can have a firm grasp of science and still be believers!"

I was sorely disappointed. I thought that while Bill did a great job of staying on topic and supporting his points with relevant data, Ken instead kind of ignored the topic, was hard to follow, and kept repeating the same, rather weak, arguments time and again. We couldn't bring ourselves to watch the whole thing.

To give him some slack, he isn't actually trying to make a scriptural argument here. He's assuming that every reader already agrees with him on what marriage is/isn't, and then simply draws their attention to some current news issues that relate to it.

AIG's actual scriptural arguments are presented here. It is shallow and easily refuted, but reads a lot better than Ken Ham's latest blog post.

Ugh, I couldn't even get through the first section. I'm so very weary of the smug tone as people congratulate themselves on figuring out the entirety of God's plan for marriage because they read the first 20 pages of the Bible.

It's so odd to me too, because you can take an otherwise very insightful person/organization, and as soon as poly comes up it's like the their eyes glaze over and they repeat the brainwash mantra without engaging their otherwise impressive minds.

What I find particularly ironic is that it was actually Ken Ham's teaching (and the rest of AIG) that led me to accept polygamy. His talks and books were really important to my learning in my pre-teen and early teenage years, and showed me I could actually take the Bible at face value, and make it the "foundation of our thinking in every area" as he says. And in doing that it was pretty obvious polygamy was ok, I had that figured out as a teenager. By simply studying the Bible exactly how Ken Ham had shown me I should...

It does make one wonder why folks cannot apply their own teaching and beliefs to a topic for which they are inclined to disagree with. SIGH.
