A Doctrine a Day to Keep the Devil Away: Good and Bad Angels

Doctrine: There are Good, Elect, Angels and Bad, Non-Elect, Angels At Work in the Universe
In the oldest book of the OT, Job, we see that when God created the universe the "morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy" (Job 38:7). The Lord's universe is composed of supernatural beings known as angels. These created beings were designed by God to be his ministering servants to carry for the directives and commands of God throughout his universe. At some point prior to the creation of Adam and Eve there was a clash between God and one of the highest angels, Lucifer, who according to Isaiah, tried to make himself "like the most High" as he attempted to take over God's assembly by his effort to "sit enthroned on the mount" of God (14:13-14). This clash between him and God led this guardian cherub" to be "expelled" (Ezek. 28:16). This then split the angelic hosts. The "elect angels" (1 Tim. 5:21) remained with God and the other evils angels, who united under the Guardian Cherub Lucifer's headship, the non-elect angels, sought to make war against God, Israel, and the Church (Rev. 12). Today the holy angels of God serve God's purposes and the evil angels serve Satan's (Lucifer) purpose as the eternal cosmic war rages on toward the culmination of history when Christ binds the devil and his angels over for 1,000 years that will eventually lead to his ultimate banishment in eternal hell (Rev. 21-22).

Life Application
It is so easy to grow dull and numb to the real behind the eyes war that wages behind the curtain of the physical world. Behind us, on the other side of a curtain that blocks us from seeing it with our physical eyes, is a whole other world where good and bad wage war over our souls, over the souls of others (2 Cor. 4:4), and for the loyalty of hearts and minds. Each day we face a spiritual battle. For some of us saints we go to battle each day with skill, solid theological knowledge, and attentive spiritual ears that are closely connected to our mission and head, Jesus Christ. However, for others there is an apathy that looms and lessens their perceptiveness to the spiritual world in which we participate within on a daily basis. As saints it is not only to our advantage, but to the good of our neighbor as well, for us to keep in the forefront of our minds at all times that good angels and evil angels are working around us. We can by prayer, faith, the word, and training in the spiritual disciplines discern and recognize this spiritual fight so we can be aligned with the holy angels as we spread the love of Christ under holy angelic protection.
