Arranged marriages, soul mates, and courting

Well, I know that my parents would never have approved anyone for me or my sisters to marry. It just wouldn't have happened. My high school boyfriend was weird in their opinion but later they told me they liked him better than any others. Of course, he had died in the interim. So if I had counted on them, I would be a spinster.

I've reopened this thread, after consulting with a number of people and removing the "age" discussions - feel free to continue discussion arranged marriage here, but do not make a case for anyone marrying younger than the age of consent laws in our current societies.
