Hi there.

Although ylop does not have a television, he does have a favourite film.

Children of Men (2006)

The birth control posts here reminded me of this film.

I ask myself the question, why do healthy Christian couples with the highest standard of living in all of human history, go to great lengths to avoid having children. And in doing so, abandon our society to stronger patriarchal cultures who will demographically overwhelm them. But that is another topic...

Back to Children of Men - it is a profound vision of our possible future. Or at least aspects of it. A future where women can no longer have children.

And reflects the wisdom of you don't know what you have got until it is gone.

I saw that movie back when we had a t.v, a few years ago now. It wasn't quite what I expected. Very dark and violent. I found the comment of the pregnant girl interesting when she's saying she doesn't know who the father is. Because she could not get pregnant she was having one night stands and had no idea who it could have been.
 
The unknown father is consistent with the themes in the movie. No children born for 20 years; and now the first woman is pregnant to an unknown father. A great irony. Also she is African, from the despised refugee class. Humanity has lost touch with children and indulged in debased sex to its ultimate conclusion - desolation and destruction. ylop
