Dealing with the spirit of lust

In 2009 I put together a 14 page document that contained what I had learned at that time about polygyny. Since then my walk with God has taken me to discover other aspects of His Word. Among the many other things I have learned, recently I became acutely aware of "generational curses" which are handed down from generation to generation unknown to most people.

Since my youth I have struggled with the spirit of lust not knowing why or how to deal with it, and in my ignorance at times yielding to it. I remember before I hit puberty I had discovered a number of Playboy magazines in my dad’s dresser and I took one and hid it and read it frequently. From time to time I would put the one I had taken back and take a different one. I thought I was learning how men were to relate to women as adults. Much of my life I have equated the love of a woman sexually, rather than a love of a woman for the person she is in the eyes of God.

I came across a Christian teacher that was teaching on generational curses and prayed a prayer along with the teacher to remove any generational curses that were afflicting me. It was after this that I had an epiphany of sorts and added a single paragraph to the 14 page document I had written in 2009. I realized that most of the people that militantly fight against those that understand the biblical principles of polygyny are themselves struggling with the spirit of lust and therefore see polygyny from that perspective whether they are willing to admit it or not. Here is the paragraph I added:

"As I have provided this information to people I noticed a common objection that a man would only take more than one wife out of lust. I began to realize just what a thorough job the spirit of lust had done to the Christian church. The statistics of Christians that view and/or save pornography on their computers is astounding. Any relationship based on lust will not be a lasting relationship which also explains why the divorce rate among Christians is just as high, and often higher, than non-Christians. A man that takes more than one wife does so because he loves them, and that love is unique to each woman and does not diminish the love he has for his other wife or wives."

Everything is of a legal nature in the spirit realm. When Jesus died on the cross it was the greatest legal transaction in history. When He said "It is finished." from the cross He meant that every legal mandate is met. We take that legal mandate and execute it into place.

Luk 18:1-8 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

Col 2:13-15 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Pray out loud: Lord I want to thank you that you are my father, my friend, but that you are also my judge. I want to come before the courts of heaven, by faith, and I want to ask Lord that verdicts would be rendered. You created each person with a book, with a destiny from heaven. Lord I ask that every legal issue that is being used against me or my family line would be removed. Lord, in Jesus name, I repent for any sin, transgression, or iniquity. I claim Colossians 2:14. Anything against me, any accusation, anything that is contrary to me, you took it out of the way and nailed it to your cross. Lord those accusations are removed by the blood of Jesus, and Lord I grant you as judge the legal right to render a verdict that I can have the destiny that was written in the books about me. I ask these things in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Now if you said that prayer out loud don't think that Satan will simply go away. Now you can overcome him and the spirit of lust with the Word of God. Not if, but when the spirit of lust comes upon you and you have inappropriate thoughts you speak the Word of God (Mat 5:8) out loud and focus on those words repeating them until the demon of lust is driven away. Do this every time and you will drive the spirit of lust away. The more you resist the more the demon of lust will be driven away. I have personally noticed that lustful thoughts diminish more each and every day and expect that some day soon they will simply not happen anymore.

Mat 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Jas 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Let us not be known as men that lust for a harem of many women, but rather as men that love our women as Jesus loves the church.

It's a very important message for many men to hear, because lust is one key reason some people are drawn to polygyny inappropriately. And I have never thought about the fact that this may be behind the objections of others also, good point. Thankyou.

I would like to add two different prayers - both aimed at removing the generational curses. These are prayers that I discovered not prayers that I developed. I am not trying to take credit for them, but rather share them as they are extremely important and freely available if one knows to look for them. The first will be a prayer that two people pray over another individual, and the second will be a prayer people can pray for themselves.

1. Break generational sins and curses

On behalf of __________, I confess and repent of his/her ancestors’, parents’, and his/her own sin and resulting curses of list all of them .

Please forgive __________, and his/her parents, and help them all to receive Your forgiveness, and to forgive themselves, in Jesus’ Name.

I place the cross of Jesus Christ between __________’s ancestors and parents and __________, as a baby in his/her mother’s womb. I command all these sins and curses to be halted at the cross of Jesus Christ, and for freedom and release from them to flow down from the cross of Jesus Christ to __________ in his/her mother’s womb, in Jesus’ Name.

2. Sever ungodly soul ties

On behalf of __________, I confess and repent of his/her sin of ungodly soul ties with all others, formed at any time throughout his/her life.

Lord, please cut all these ungodly soul ties, and restore the broken or torn portions of his/her soul. Please remove anything that came into him/her through these soul ties, sins and curses, or any other way, and please bring back anything godly that was stolen from him/her, in Jesus’ Name.

3. Renounce negative beliefs and inner vows

On behalf of __________, I confess and repent of any negative beliefs and inner vows that resulted from these sins and curses, and I ask You, Lord, to replace them with countering divine truths, and help __________ to live by these divine truths, in Jesus’ Name. __________ will know the truth and the truth will make him/her free, in Jesus’ Name!

4. Break word curses

On behalf of __________, I confess and repent of him/her receiving any word curses spoken over him/her, and I ask you to help him/her forgive and release himself/herself and others for speaking these word curses over him/her. I break all word curses over __________ right now in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and I ask that he/she receive Your divine blessings to replace these word curses, in Jesus’ Name.

5. Pray for release from bitterness and painful memories

On behalf of __________, I confess and repent of any anger or bitterness he/she has towards You or others, Lord, for allowing these sins, curses, word curses and soul ties in his/her life. I ask you to forgive him/her and help him/her to forgive himself/herself and all those involved, and to receive Your forgiveness, in Jesus’ Name.

Lord, please help _________ to be released from the emotional power of painful memories and other memories, and to realize that in some cases You may have wanted him/her to move on to a new season in life. Please heal his/her soul wounds, and replace these memories with the knowledge that he/she is loved and cared for by You, in Jesus’ Name.

6. Cast out demons

In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, on behalf of __________, I renounce and break all agreements with the demons and strongholds of (list all of them).

In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I take authority over and bind the demons and strongholds of list all of them , and I command you to leave __________ now in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Do not go into anyone else in the building. Leave the building now, leave the property and leave the area. Leave his/her home now, leave his/her property and leave the area, in Jesus’ Name. Thank you, Lord, for setting __________ free!

7. Pray for God’s blessings and the infilling of the Holy Spirit

On behalf of __________, I joyfully accept the divine exchange Christ made for him/her on the cross of Calvary. All these sins, curses, word curses, and soul ties are now broken in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and I ask You, Lord, to give __________ Your divine blessings in his/her life to replace them, in Jesus’ Name.

Lord, please help __________ to understand that the power to overcome these sins is in You and Your Holy Spirit, not in self-effort, and to turn to You for help in resisting them. Please help him/her to be (saved, and) filled with the Holy Spirit in order to resist sin in the future. Sin shall have no dominion in __________’s life. Please help __________ to feel conviction and to repent when falling into those old sinful habits, in Jesus’ Name. Thank You, Lord, that whom the Son sets free is free indeed. Amen.

First Prayer - Breaking generational sins and curses

(Picture your father): I forgive you, Dad, for the unbelief you passed on to me. I choose to love you, honor you and release you in Jesus' name. I place the cross of Jesus Christ between you and me, and I command all generational sins and curses of fear, doubt and unbelief to halt at the cross of Christ, and I bless that baby in the womb (me) with the blessings of Calvary. I bless you with life, with faith, with belief. Faith, come alive in Jesus' name (repeat three times). Thank You, Lord. I see Your light cascading down upon that baby in the womb.

Repeat the above prayer until it comes from your heart with flow, emotion and passion. Then repeat the entire process, picturing your mother and applying the prayer to your mom.

Second Prayer - Severing ungodly soul ties

(Picture a person whom you have a bonded relationship with, who has fed fear to you): I choose to forgive you, release you and bless you in Jesus' name. I take the sword of the Spirit (take it up in your hand), and I cut the ungodly soul tie between you and me in Jesus' name (swing your hand with the sword in it and see yourself cutting through the chain that connects the two of you). I cut it (repeat 5 times). I command all negative energy that was passing from you to me to fall to the ground. Lord, I ask that You circumcise my heart. Cut out the fear and unbelief that was placed there through this relationship, and give me a new heart, a heart of faith and belief. Thank You, Lord. I receive. I receive. I receive.

Repeat this prayer picturing others you have soul ties with whom have fed you fear and unbelief.

Third and Fourth Prayers - Repent of ungodly beliefs and corresponding inner vows, and replace them with godly beliefs and godly purposes

I repent for believing that I am alone and that God is not with me. I repent of my inner vow to protect myself and defend myself and rely on myself. I accept the truth that You are always with me, at my right hand, guiding, protecting and empowering me with Your Spirit. Thank You, Lord, for Your presence.

I repent for believing it needs to be my power and my ability that heals the sick, and my inner vow not to try as I obviously do not have such power. I accept the truth from Your Word that it is Your power, flowing through Your Holy Spirit which releases healing to the sick.

I repent for taking false responsibility on myself in the healing process, and getting all stressed out, rather than relaxing, putting a smile on my face and realizing that all I am doing is applying Your completed victory from the Cross to the situation that stands before me. By Your stripes we ARE healed! Thank You, Lord, that health has been purchased and the debt has been paid. I am freed from satan’s grasp. I bring this person into freedom and out of satan’s darkness. I release them into the light of Your kingdom. Your power flows through my hand, driving out darkness. Thank You, Lord. I receive. I celebrate, I dance for joy. You have won the victory. Blessed be the name of the Lord!

Pray the above prayer again inserting other ungodly beliefs you have which fuel fear within you.

Fifth Prayer - Inner healing

(Picture a scene where fear of praying for healing entered you): "Lord, would You please walk into this scene now and let me see You present in it, ministering Your grace and truth to me." Tune to flowing pictures and flowing thoughts and record what Jesus says and does. It will be powerful. If He touches you, feel His power enter your being, restoring and transforming you.

For example, I see Jesus walking into the traditional church where I was saved, and hearing the pastor teach that signs and miracles are not for today. Jesus is placing His hands over my ears. He says, “Let’s go for a walk. You don’t want to listen to this. It will defile your heart and mind.” So He takes me outside the church and we enjoy His creation as He speaks words of truth to me, and sets me free to believe that I am a co-creator with Him of all this wonder and beauty. He has seated me with Him to rule and reign over the earth, and He is calling me to take up that position and that responsibility, and not to live under satan's cloud of darkness and death. I say, “Yes, Lord, I will follow Your lead. I will rule with You. Together we will reign over the forces of darkness. Thank You, Lord, for this honor You have bestowed upon me. I appreciate it."

Pray the above prayer again, inserting other scenes where fear entered you.

Sixth Prayer - Breaking off word curses

(Picture the person who spoke something negative about your abilities, and this could be you): I choose to forgive you and release you and bless you in Jesus' name. I repent for believing this word curse and I break off any power it has had over me. I break off all spiritual forces connected with it. I am a child of the King. All that the King has, He has placed at my disposal. I rule and reign with Him. I speak forth His Kingdom and His glory, and His Kingdom is manifest on the earth and the works of darkness are destroyed. Thank You, Lord, for entrusting me with such awesome power and authority. I will use it wisely. I will use it only as You instruct me to."

Seventh Prayer - Casting out demons

I repent for agreeing with thoughts of fear and inadequacy which demons have placed in my mind. I turn away from these thoughts. From this day on, I will only dwell on those things which are lovely, just and pure and are in full alignment with Your Word. I command all demons of fear, doubt and unbelief to leave me now in Jesus' name and never return (repeat 3-4 times). Lord, come and fill me with Your light. Faith, come alive within my heart. Overwhelm me. Transform me. Make me a new person. A different person. A child of faith. A mighty worker of miracles that the world may know that God sent His Son and His Son is glorified by the mighty works which pour forth through my hands. Bless the name of the living Lord!
