Does anyone have any research they could provide on the Assyrian captivity of the Israelites? Specifically the dates(years), what part of the world they were captive in, and which tribes returned to the land of Israel.

Hi,

The main date most scholars use is 722 BC because this is when the inhabitants of the captital of the Northern Kingdom of Israel (Samaria) was taken away. However, it was approximately 740 BC when the tribes of Reuben, Gad and the eastern half-tribe of Manasseh were carried away. They were taken to Halah and Habor which is located by the river of Gozan.

The fact is this: There are no historical accounts of any of the 10 tibes returning to Israel. They blended into their host country. All kinds of groups claim to be a part of these 10 tribes today, Mormons to Russians (I think there are at least 10 groups), and even though ALL of them claim historic proof, there is virtually none - just speculations!
