One more advantage to home church, besides the fact that you can dust off your own instruments and use them to praise God without having to be "worship leader" ready or pressured.

The same problems that caused the fundamentalists to condemn rock music were not really changed when the subject of the music is God and the concert hall a church. I wonder if this has to do with the man up front performing format and the focus on entertainment.

The hero worship/ man up front issue goes way back and shows up with the people having Moses represent them. It was kicked into a higher gear with the advent of the Universal Church.
But it seems that the need for heroes to entertain the masses has never been greater, although the Israelites were at least honest with themselves in choosing a golden calf when their hero was out of sight for too many hours.
Christianity has devolved to a new level of patheticallity.

For sure. And we see front man pastors treated the same way. But unlike pastor's who at least function like spiritual guru's, there is no logical reason for a guy who sings up front to become a 'faith leader'.

All we have is the emotional aspect and that they're putting all their attention on him when worshiping.

Yep, making people feel good makes you a hero.

Why do people care two figs about the political opinions of sports figures or actors. Same thing.
The Roman Circus still replaces real life.
