Polygyny, Matt. 5:28, and Attraction

Jimmy Carter screwed up in his famous Playboy interview by confusing 'lust' with 'coveting.'

Matthew 5:28 is the 10th commandment - do not covet your neighbor’s wife. A man that covets a neighbor’s wife is obviously not loving his neighbor. And if he does the act - he’s breaking multiple commandments. Do not steal. Do not covet. Do not commit adultery. More than one place in scripture there is warning of destruction for those that do such things.

What the modern day church has done was turned Matthew 5:28 into a human commandment by twisting the Word of God; and therefore, placing shackles of burden on countless men, and empowering the women; and you see this throughout the western culture today. “Happy wife - happy life.” “Let me ask the wife, first.” “Bend the knee and ask for marriage.” Instead of the wife fearing the husband; as scripture says, it’s the man that fears the wife. Instead of the man being the head of the household - it’s the woman that’s the head. This world system has the woman’s back. I think this goes back to Genesis - because it was the woman that was deceived and followed Satan. Not the man. The man was punished for obeying his wife, and not the commandment of the Most High. So this world system - to this present day - supports the women in cases of divorce, and child custody (plus payments). The Christian man, therefore, should never get married with the government.

It’s no surprise since feminism there has been an increase in divorces, broken households, badly elected leaders (women voting contrary to their covering), and rise in gender confusion + sexual immorality (one night stands instead of marriage). Once you go outside the Creator’s instructions - don’t be surprised if sin and destruction is the result. The Lord Jesus Christ knows what’s best for us, since it’s His Creation.

16 "If a man seduces a virgin who is not betrothed and lies with her, he shall give the bride-price for her and make her his wife. 17 If her father utterly refuses to give her to him, he shall pay money equal to the bride-price for virgins." (Exodus 22:16-17)

The way I was thinking of it, having sex with an unmarried woman, and then not following through with marriage or paying the bride-price, is the in-the-flesh sin. Lusting after a woman with your heart set on merely having sex and then not marrying her would be "actual" lust, or fornication in the heart, instead of mere sexual attraction that most people are confused about. Is that right?

A follow up question I have, regarding lust: where does watching pornography land? From the discussion it seems like a few folks here would be fine with it, as long as the person on screen was not another man's wife?

Many men have sex with virgins, and then move on to the next girl; simply because they want more sexual partners, find something unclean about her, or they are not ready for marriage. But scripture says that if a man takes a woman’s virginity - he has himself a wife (unless her father - her covering - says otherwise). These things should be taught to all young men and women in the church. It’s the basics on sex and marriage. And so many don’t have a clue what his Word says.

If a man burns with lust - the prescription is marriage. That’s from the New Testament. Not everyone is ready for marriage. What about the teenager whose hormones are raging, and is naturally very attracted to the opposite sex? What happens if someone is burning with lust and is too young for marriage? There is scripture that says this:

Leviticus 15:16
Whenever a man has an emission of semen, he must bathe his entire body in water, and he will remain ceremonially unclean until the next evening.

It’s important to note a man is also ceremonially unclean when he has sex with a woman, and must also bath in water. I would avoid the porn sites altogether, however.

One of the long running debates we have here is whether there is such a thing as “sex before marriage”. The really, really smart people say no. That sex always forms a marriage or is adultery.

The problem comes in where the people who say that are also extremely good looking and so shallow, insecure people don’t always give the really really smart and good looking people their due.
