Shortage of Eligible Men Results in Women Freezing Eggs

Very interesting article. Too many men just arent wanting the responsibility of a family, and those that do arent picking the professional, educated women. I think it's pretty sad. But with the divorce rate what it is, more women are looking after their own security in having a career they can fall back on if needed.

I had a Mormon cousin give up on finding a hubby, and go to the sperm bank so she could at least be a mom. "The church" didn't know what to do about that, as they couldn't kick her out for sleeping around. A. I. is just not quite defined as a sin ya know, and it hardly evokes images of unbridled sensuality either! lol
My cousin did end up marrying, after being a single mom by choice.

Just another witness to how monogamy only doctrine fails.

Oh there's definitely a shortage of decent men.
There's a TV programme called first dates or something like that that they have overseas. They want to do it in NZ, but they can't find enough men to do it.
We've had The Bachelor here 3 times I think? People keep saying that the TV station should make The Bachelorette (because The Bachelor is such high quality programming...) but they keep saying it's not something they can do, which I'm guessing is because they would have to find a bunch of men who want to settle down to do the programme, and it's much easier to find just one to be the bachelor once a year.

Here's something interesting I've noticed. Samuel and I got married pretty early (according to society...), straight out of University. We knew heaps of single Christian women then. Over time some got married, but many remained single for years and years, and it wasn't for not wanting to settle down, there just weren't any decent Christian men around.
Well, now they're just about all married, the last few getting married the last 2 years. They're in their mid thirties now, but it did actually happen for them. It seems to be that there's more of a delay, rather than it not happening at all.

Of course then I start thinking about having children, because at that stage you don't have a long time left before menopause kicks in (10 years ish), and it's harder to get pregnant when you're starting for the first time when you're older.
So the muslims are getting married at 14, having 4 wives, each wife having an average of 8 kids. And us Christians are getting married in our 30's, having 2 kids if we're lucky, and only one wife. Give it another generation and we're going to be completely outbred.

And I'm not even going to start on the morality of IVF. I'll leave that topic alone :D

There was a young lady in our last church who got tired of waiting, signed up to be a foster mom and then adopted. As far as I know, still single.

"The anthropologist suggested some women might need to be prepared to compromise some of their standards in order to find love....In some cases, the women taking part in the in-depth interviews said they would be happy to be in a relationship with someone less educated, but they felt they were “intimidating” to the men who were available."

I think these two statements say more about these women than the men they are not finding. It's a two part problem, though.

1). These women want Prince Charming who makes 300k a year and drives a Ferrarri. Anything less is uncivilized.

2). The men aren't being raised to be responsible and respectful towards women, proving themselves unworthy no matter what their education or income.

I don't necessarily think its about finding prince charming. (Don't get me wrong for some it is).

Looking at some of my own experiences when dating. Its no easy task. I have often times been the one with more education. That's not a big deal. I have never been concerned about the money one makes, as long as they have an honest job.

I think its more difficult when you add biblical terms and standards in. I often have found that these males rather follow and want the female to lead. The lack of being able to have in-depth conversations with them. If, you see concerns and try to discuss whatever is going on. Often times, they feel like you are belittling or picking on them. So what does a female do? Not that I am saying females are innocent, cuz that another topic.
Obviously this is not true for every situation. It is quite noticeable though, there is a shortage of decent men. Maybe its not a shortage but a delay really. I tend to lean more with a shortage....prisons and jails are full, homosexuality, lack of appropriate up bringing, or no true relationship with the Father.

Ita definitely a shortage. We have a hard time finding guys to work at our plant. Its a physical construction job and at 41 I may be below the average age!

I agree about the men. Trying to keep a conversation with any male under 40 is taxing. Add in the faith factor, and you get even less desirables...but...
I'm an "educated" man myself and this article was about secular women. The "educated", secular women I've been around want something from romantic comedies, or love stories that just doesn't exist. They create "lists" of their perfect man that require him to be 100 things before they even talk to him! More often than not, they want equality at the least, or outright dominance in the relationship. What self respecting man wants do's and don't lists just to get a second date? If they wanted to be told what to do all day and be nagged about how they just don't match up to expectations, they could live at home with mom for free. The "liberated" women give them sex for free without commitment, so why bother to up their game? They get the milk for free, so why invest in a farm?

Yes, I have to agree with you there. I have friends who are no longer in touch with reality. Society has feed us this rubbish since we were small.
I am sure we all know the classic chick flick or two. Many women expect life to be just as Hollywood portrays. The oh so dreamy man, who will serinade her, his perfect six pack and beach body, no serious flaws, will sweep her off her feet, and wine and dine her. Lets not forget, he should be at least 6'1 in height.....lol
The truth is prince charming doesn't exist as Hollywood shows he does.
Real prince charming is a G_d fearing man. Who lives by the principles the Father has laid out. A hard working family man. He is not perfect and isn't afraid of saying he is still a work in progress.
Society has women really mixed up and looking for all the wrong things in all the wrong places.
The "list" females often have is troublesome. I had a friend who found the perfect guy. Sad part about it, she must not have put loving or faithful down. When you got to the core of this man. He was far from anything desirable.

I've found that I'm a rarity on the railroad to say the least. All but a few of the men I work with are single worldly men between the ages of 30 and 50. The few that are married happen to have either acute religious beliefs about them or slightly higher standards of morality and ethics in their life.

What's funny is that I'm considered by most of my worldly coworkers to be a sexist, bigot, Bible thumping, intolerant religious nut with way too many kids... These lovely labels coming from men who are more like adult teenagers living life to simply "chase tail" and avoid being "tied down" at all costs... believing pornography is healthy and natural... seeing family as a burden on the fun in life rather than the blessing OF LIFE that God designed it to be! ... And I'M THE SEXIST! Hahaha

Oh, and one doesn't even need to open their mouth other than to say, "yes, I am a Bible Believing Christian" and you will be labeled all those things
