General Song of Solomon side stepped

I have been working on the most gracious and direct (a hard combination to achieve) approaches to sanctify the character of Adonai in the perceptions of anti-poly churchians.

If that is confusing I'll rephrase. Churchians think that poly is similar to homosexuality (gross, I know). If you tell them Adonai is a polygamist (Ezekiel 23) they are likely to feel at least a little bit like you called Adonai unholy (which is unthinkable).

The fact remains though that God is a polygamist. I am seeing that people can come around to this when you don't allow them to move the conversation away from Ezekiel 23. However people usually stop there and don't move on to the truth that Adonai delights in his own character and actions. He delights in his polygamy and the future redemption/restoration of both his brides.

I want people to be like Adonai and delight in his character/actions too! He is wonderful, loving, gracious, righteous, just and holy. SO IS HIS POLYGAMY!

So after sticking a long time in the Ezekiel 23 conversation people kind of need somewhere to go next in the scriptures. I am starting to believe that place is Song of Solomon. It sets such a long example with lots of mental food to chew on so that people can adjust emotionally to the aspect of Adonai's character that they are just becoming aware of.

It sets Adonai's vision of marriage so far apart from the satanic one given us in this world. It is passionate, generous, erotic, very very polyginist, and unashamed.

It is also almost completely ignored.

When I looked on YouTube for an audio version of the book the first 30 results had ZERO professionally produced audio versions. Most other books of the bible have around 20 in the first 30 results. Song of Solomon has 2 versions that amateurs read in the first 30 results. The other results are some pretty atrocious eisegesis and several women teaching men about christian sex.

This is the bible's book most focused on romantic love and it is side stepped! Maybe that's because it has a group of virgins celebrating the sexual relationship between their husband and his new wife?

Listen, an honest reading of Song of Solomon after knowing that Adonai is a polygamist is old-paradigm destroying!, not just regarding polygyny and sex but it will cause people to wonder if their previous pastors have been at all honest with them.

I wonder if someone should produce an actual video version of it - obviously censored somewhat (there's a lot of nudity and references to sexual activity that would become audio to the picture of a bedroom door...). I'm thinking audio bible, but videoing the people doing the talking. That would really clearly show the context of it all. It's easy to ignore what's going on when you just read the words.
However, the set would be very, very expensive to do accurately!

I think it works better as ecchi rather than porn.
The Shulamite is confirmed as best girl in the first season of "The King married a foreign tsurupeta"
You lost me sorry, I'm not up with all the fancy Japanese words, I've just seen advertisements for anime porn on the sides of websites so I knew it was a thing... I see anime is far more complex than I'd ever imagined.
Ecchi is sexually suggestive but not actually porn, right? Sounds a great fit!
What's a tsurupeta?

Not really. We haven't even started quoting from the book yet and this is already the tenth post. It must be the slowest developing Biblical discussion we've ever had!

Seriously though. Do we have anyone here who can do decent quality illustration & animation, and is comfortable animating this particular topic? Any anime artists out there? Plenty of us could contribute the audio, but animation is the limiting factor. This could be awesome if done right (or painfully cringe-inducing if done badly...).

I never entertained any such thought! Our boys' favourite tv show is "cells at work" / Hataraku Saibō. But on the sides of the semi-dodgy websites you have to use to watch such programs, you see advertisements for many shows with more SoS-like content, so I know it exists, that's all.

What were we talking about again? :)

Only cartoons I liked were bugs Bunny and the road runner. Johnny Quest was the bomb. Other than that I have no clue what y'all are talking about.

I do not understand why most Christians compare polygyny with homosexuality, it is not wrong or out of the order of creation for a man to be attracted to various women. Even Muslims practice polygyny. Polygyny is in accordance with Genesis. For woman was made for man.
If the woman had been made at the same time as the man and not because of him, I would agree that polygyny would be wrong. Feminist Christians do not accept polygyny because they know it would destroy their attempt to make God egalitarian. I confess that I like to provoke people, so I have already spoken to other Christian women that polygyny is not a sin and they hate it.

You must actually read the Bible?

Almost fell out of my chair laughing at this thread!! Brilliant!!

The short version is to rip the 'Islam is right about women' page out of the playbook...

'God is a polygamist (Eze. 23)'

Love God? Must therefore love polygamists.

Hate polygamists? Must therefore hate God... :D

@Daniel DeLuca … post that on the church bulletin board... LOL!!!!
