The One Man Can Only Be with One Woman Ideology

Alright, for those of you who have asked for it now in the teaching articles section is an article that addresses this topic theologically.

Several have asked, questioned, or commented to the problem of "why do people think one flesh can mean only one lady in a conjugal union," or something that is related to that general theme. It is a very common idea that people interpret the concept of "one" in the Bible to mean numerically one instead of the way God defines oneness in the Bible.

Thus the article: "The Trinity or Triunity of God as the Basis to Define Oneness" is an effort to show that no Evangelical Christian who affirms the Trinity, threeness in oneness ideology, can honestly think in such terms that one means only numerically one lest he deny his or her own confession of God being three persons in one.

Hope this helps in the effort to explain how God defines "oneness." Enjoy!

According to Skinner, author of Genesis: International Critical Commentary (page 70) the word used here for "flesh" is synonomous with clan or family group in both Hebrew and Arabic. This puts an entirely different spin on "one flesh" making it a familial term as well as a sexual term.
