The parsha called "Chukat" is said to be perhaps the most "enigmatic" in the whole of Scripture. Even King Solomon was said to have found the function of the Red Heiffer to be inexplicable.
But that may not even be the most perplexing aspect of this one.
Consider Moses, the singular prophet who spoke directly to YHVH, "mouth to mouth," and worked for 120 years of his life to what became a singular goal. And, but for this One Big Mistake, failed to see that through.
Yes, Yahuah held him to a "higher standard." But was it harsh?
No. (Obviously.)
But there really, really IS a lesson here. Especially now.
