The absolute best...PERSONALITY TEST!

Big topic line again. ..and that is my honest opinion.... but I welcome other opinions on this information.

Years ago people here were doing a different personality type test that was nowhere near as accurate as this is.

This information can help you better understand yourself and others.

A cousin learned about the Enneagram from a minister's wife who taught it and felt it went along with the teaching about the body of Christ having different members. Her belief was that YHWH created people with all personality types for His purposes and all types are needed for society...and the body of Christ to function properly.

I am very thankful for this information as it has already helped me understand myself better, offering me a more objective yet EXTREMELY accurate perspective....on me, myself, and I. I jest, but while the accuracy of other personality tests is like that of a Chinese fortune cookie, this is other level accurate and read like it was written by a fly on the wall....residing in my heart and mind....MY WHOLE LIFE!!

You can take the test here for free.

There are two tests totalling 200 questions. That takes 30 to 45 minutes to complete. Then there are personality "health tests too!"

Here is another place with articles and information that is easier to follow at times than the many analogies used by the first site.

That is what I have time for right now.

I am happy to share what I am...with others who actually take the tests and share too!

@FollowingHim2 I am using this as "social studies" curriculum for my children as I believe it will help siblings better understand each other. I expect @FollowingHim will find it interesting too!

I look forward to these results!

Don't have the time to spare now...but -
can you compare to Meyers-Briggs for those of us that have long familiarity with that one? It's certainly the best, most accurate for my understanding that I've seen. (I'm an INTJ. So is my more recent wife...rare...and makes things interesting.)

I'm more familiar with the Meyers-Briggs as well. But have also taken the ennagram test before, and again just now. I'm an INTJ and I come out as a type 5 on the ennagram (The investigator). I'd assume reading an overview of that type would probably give you a good starting comparison.

The Meyers-Briggs test had my oldest daughter, daughter in-law, sisterwife, and myself all the same rare personality type....and we all KNEW there were differences.

The enneagram has us all different....and explains the how we are all different.

It also informs me on some of the issues I have had in my marriage, and explains my relationship with my susterwife too!

A world of difference ...and why I claim this is THE BEST!!

Could you do your wing test? It is 20 questions yes or no.

We have several type 5's in our family

I also think this is an interesting subject but would appreciate more clarification on what it means to you @Joleneakamama. How is it worked out in practical daily life? If you are interested/willing to talk about it, then let's start a new thread for it.
I started this thread here about it last year.
By posting here we can let the other stay focused on that family's need.

Well, for one it was a comfort to know that the "boundary" I was perceiving from my sw was not intended. I think the enneagram helps you realize there is not just potential for misunderstandings, they are more common than you think and happen in places that just didn't even occur to you. This can help you maybe assume less? You may be more likely to get clarification instead of assuming you understand.
It creates more awareness basically about differences in how you see things and can give you practical suggestions too on things to watch for in your relationship dynamic.

I have never thought of using personality tests to help you understand someone else's actions/boundaries or expectations that they would do, or have in doing, life at home. I am almost embarrassed to not connect it as a tool to understanding a new wife coming into a family. I guess I have just thought "getting to know" someone or spending time with them is the only way to understand their dislikes and likes, or preferred way of doing life. I can now see how talking about a personality test would be a great tool in making that connection quicker and clearer. Though, the other woman would have to be willing to share her thoughts with you to do that, and that might take a period of building trust with her first.

Expectations drawn from past behaviors or words spoken for one instance might not be the same for a similar instance so asking clarification in a loving way (that works for them) is wisdom for sure. Even when you have known someone, like a husband, for a long time, you can still have wrong expectations due to him making a change in his previous thoughts on a subject. Learning how to communicate better, and always being willing to grow in that skill, is a daily job for most of us. Thank you for a new "tool" @Joleneakamama to put in our communication tool box!

I am very guilty of respecting boundaries the other person didn’t establish. I’ve never thought about it before but clearly it’s not about respecting the other person, it’s more about asserting myself maybe? A control mechanism but a passive aggressive one? I’m still wrestling with the implications of this simple phrase.

For me it ends up being the limits of my comfort level pretending it's respect for the other person.

I also remember once seeing a sad situation where after tallying gymkhana points a saddle was awarded to the girl that was high point. ... but after checking again it was found less than half an hour later that another girl was the actual winner. Dad of the girl that was the true high point would not let her accept the trophy saddle. This would have been taking the moral high ground had the other girl been holding onto it, but realizing she had not really won it she didn't want to keep it. She ended up donating it back...and the other girl's dad bought her a new ssddle. So instead of just letting people fix the mistake, under the pretense of superior morality, he caused a larger harm.

My mother in law while living with us refused to wash her hands with the dish soap in the kitchen because it was expensive and that would be wasteful.....yet this was the complete norm for our entire family! *shrugs*
I guess we all have hang ups, preferences, blind spots, etc. Just realizing that goes a long way toward letting others....just "be."

Unfortunately, like pretty much all personality tests, I can't finish the thing. Tonnes of the questions seem internally contradictory or don't reflect my thought process at all.

Need an extra option that says none of this applies to me.

Would not help to analyze my personality but I could at least get a few questions in without getting irritated enough to just bounce out but hey ho

As I recall the test has 5 levels from NEVER APPLIES TO ME to ALWAYS APPLIES TO ME.
This means one of those should fit.

It's a lot of questions too! Takes a good 30 minutes or so.

Thanks Joleneakamama! My family all took the enneagram test this evening. It was great and insightful. One son and my wife's both said that the results might not be conclusive. My son's was a great representation of his personality though. My wife is going to retake it because hers seemed to potentially be off.

Mine and my two son's were spot on!

And, we enjoyed reading them out to each other as the day came to a close...

Thanks again!

Excellent tip about how people change how they respond, our perceptions and responses are not static.

Isn't that crazy?
It's like it was written by a fly residing in your heart and/or mind.
I have a son and daughter that are the same with the same wing, and at least two sons with the other wing.
My wife is going to retake it because hers seemed to potentially be off.
The other thing you can do is read about the types and see what matches or resonates with you.

I see these as helpful for perspective on self, and understanding others.

On the Myers Briggs, I am a Debater, although pretty close on the scale to a Field Marshall.
