Because, sadly, we don't have wireless transmission, and Mother Nature loves to destroy power lines and aluminum/steel/copper and lineman wages have costs.

They hate things they don't understand, whether it's Real Science (and CO2, and solar physics) or math (it's too hard, and it reveals simple truths like EVs are idiotic "policy," and only aggravate the grid overload) and, obviously, basic economics. They hate honest money and free markets, too, IOW.
