Whole thread and real problem is societal change, not what Bible says.
Just preaching will massively destabilize existing marriages and since people really don't like losing their families, they will resist. Only chance this has any chance of working is by implementing keeping existimg marriages program and keep societal status program at same time by whole church.
Interestingly, how people complain about lack of Christian obedience here, while putting zero thought into prodiving advice how to talk with wife existing her starting divorce.

Your hubris is rarely matched with real world application. As a pastor who is currently doing weekly men's only teachings on the topic of polygny and the real world application of it in our lives, I know it is hard but not impossible. I first spent years teaching my wife this topic. Not everyone goes off half cocked and without a plan.How come I never did get excomunicated

Currently, over half the men of the assembly indicate they support and intend to continue fellow shipping with us. We did lose 2 couples almost instantly.
When this happens, I always recall these scriptures...

Just a side note:
What I find interesting about this passage is that division between husband and wife is not listed.
Pretty much every other relationship possible is listed.

It's also not between son and daughter. It seems to be purely a generational divide.
It's also interesting that the division seems to be explicitly not one-sided.

Yes, it's way easier for you because you have very high influence on group rules of acceptable conduct which means you aren't in position of group revolutionary.
Sadly, common church visitor does finish as revolutionary, no wonder they get excommunicated.

Have you not read all the posts of so many pastors that lost their jobs BECAUSE they were willing to say things that were biblically true but their church people were unwilling to hear it.
Sadly. It is easy to lose an entire church as they form a rebellion against what they perceive as a threat.
It's better to try to change culture as pastor than regular guy.
