Greetings from sunny California

Welcome Dora, hope you do enjoy your stay here. I'm still quite new here myself but I can say that everyone here so far has been very warm and welcoming. Hope you find the answers you seek here just as much as I am. :)

I had no idea, Jeff Ray! Same here...horrible Northern California is our home, regrettably so. Looking to high-tail it out of this state, God willing. ;)
California used to be so good. There are still great locations to live but it's gotten worse. The homeless problem for example has exploded! Imagine just driving around your own neighborhood and seeing multiple homeless people camped out.

We must be neighbors! You just described my neighborhood. :D

Welcome to you! I'm glad you've found this very diverse community who embrace the plural family lifestyle and freely share the love so generously given to us. "We love Him because He first loved us." (I John 4:19) So now you've dipped your toes in the water. Get your feet wet and wade on in! :) Splash around a bit and get to know us here on the forum by interacting on the different threads. Sounds like you're seeking truth. That's what we do here. Pilot asked Jesus, "What is truth?" (John 18:38) Jesus had already told his disciple Thomas the answer to that question earlier in John 14:6 "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me." Blessings to you! I'm looking forward to seeing you often on the threads. :)

Thanks! I really appreciate that message. ;)

Austin is experiencing a homeless problem, and it is rather recent, thanks in large part to our mayor and the city council. Makes me glad to have a car to get around in, because there is no way I would feel safe in some parts of town, for either myself, or my family.

Welcome!

I'm not surprised you felt no connection to Christianity from attending only Catholic services. They are rather ceremonial and impersonal unless you have grown up in that tradition. If you are interested in Christianity, find a nearby Protestant church to attend, and you will probably find it more relatable. You won't learn about polygamy there, but you'll learn the Christian context within which we discuss it - which is actually far more important.
You know, if you live in Los Angeles, or near there, there is a church I would recommend, because of the pastor and his exposes on worldly music and a lot of the origins of that music. The church is not pro-polygamy to my knowledge, but the pastor's messages may open your eyes to what is going on in the world. I highly recommend Blessed Hope Chapel to anyone that lives in that part of California. Pastor Joe has some excellent videos out on YouTube, including one entitled, "They Sold Their Souls For Rock 'N Roll". I recommended that to one of the youth in our church, who I was told was agnostic, and it really opened his eyes to the reality of the spiritual warfare that is going on.

I think this is what you're looking for...

Haven't watched them yet, but I can relate that quite a number of celebrities (esp. music and actors) have very seriously and matter of factually testified on camera that they sold their soul to the Devil. Several of whom relate their skill or lyrics came directly from him.

My name is Isidora or "Dora" for short. I stumbled upon this website through Google search after being confused by pro-polygamist posts on Reddit. It's not that I'm against it, just that I've never really thought of polygamy in that light; let alone Christian polygamy. So I felt it was time to create my account and dip my toes into the water.

As an agnostic I hope I feel welcomed. Growing up my family was never religious and, being of Italian heritage, had Catholic relatives who invited me to attended services at their church but I didn't really feel a connection to the faith.

I'll admit both religion and polygamy are alien to me. However, I hope that after awhile here I'll discover something special that will light a spark in me. Hope you're all doing well and in good health

Welcome. I am in Austin now, but I grew up in San Diego.

Most everyone here would agree that your relationship with Christ is more important that polygamy, but maybe your interest in polygamy might lead you to learn more about Christ? In any case I am glad you are here and welcome to the forum.

In the U.S. by far the greatest experience of polygamy is/was with the Mormons. We here are not Mormons. The biggest difference between Christian polygamy and Mormon polygamy is that Mormons believe that marriage is eternal and that there is a special spiritual bonus in the afterlife if you are polygamous in this life (any Mormons on here (I know you are lurking!), please correct me if I a mis-representing your position).

Christians believe that in the afterlife that we are no longer given in marriage (see Luke 20). We believe that polygamy is permitted, just like monogamy and being single are, but you do not get any spiritual bonus points for it. We do however feel like if marriage is a blessing (and it is!) that a second wife is a double blessing.

If you want to start learning about Christ then I recommend starting reading the Gospel of Luke. From there you can read the book of Acts to read what happens next as Acts is basically Luke Part 2.

Feel free to ask questions in the forum either about polygamy or about Jesus.

Best wishes and God bless you.

Chris

With love, Dora!
