• Biblical Families is not a dating website. It is a forum to discuss issues relating to marriage and the Bible, and to offer guidance and support, not to find a wife. Click here for more information.

Greetings from the south!

For example, we read that Leah credits the Creator for blessing her with a new child, because she found her husband an additional wife. This shows it’s righteous to help other sisters in Christ share a godly husband. Which is what Paul wrote in 1 Cor 7:2 (in the Greek), but it’s been swept under the rug in modern translations:

1 Cor 7:2
Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own [heautou – exclusively owned] wife, and let every woman have her own [idios – shared] husband.”
This was a verse that I had questioned too, and after some digging it blew my mind how it has been translated to fit cultural norms.
If you believe in the NT - then you must believe in the righteousness of biblical marriage. Some people can’t accept what the word of God truly says regarding biblical marriage, because they may still have the old wine skins. So the new wine is being rejected. New wine calls for new wine skins - as Jesus said - you must be reborn.
Yes, this is what I am struggling with. the more I read and understand the more I question what I was taught. It is just incredibly difficult to redirect your belief that you’ve had for 30+ years.

It is like learning that the color you called blue....is not really blue. It is that BIG!

I was raised by parents that believed polygyny was moral.
I was also raised mainstream mormon....so I had to question and sort a TON of other docrinal issues out.
What I found was that every right and true thing I KNEW about God and I mean had experienced kind of know, was wrapped up and connected to that mormon doctrinal foundation too. It's like trying to untangle a mess of multiple skeins of yarn....but they are all the same color. There are a few key pieces that helped me see.....being raised in it kinda makes you "color blind" to the differences. The Torah is something that YHWH said not to add to or diminish from. It helps to look at that as foundational. Also His intent to have a relationship with each man in Israel "If you will hearken to my voice you will be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation." This is why I cannot see a pastor or prophet or pope as an authority. They are ministers of His authority and camnot of themsrlves change ANY THING!
It's like a cop is not the authority....and must himself be under authority....if he goes outside the scope of his authority he is PERSONALLY RESPONSIBLE for his actions and "Qualified immunity" (the grace granted to do his job) will be denied.
Once you see that "The emperor has no clothes" you just can't go back. Mutual submission in the fear of the Lord is instructed for men. Total submission to her husband is instructed for wives. Patriarchal theocracy....one nation under God....was what He authorized.
