Greetings

Welcome! What is your marital status? What state are you from? How did you come to have an interest in polygamy? What is your favorite movie?
Hello, First of all, please forgive me but for security reasons right now, I would prefer not to let anyone know where I live. I am not married but dating a NEW guy that is absolutely fabulous. I have always been drawn to polygamy since my teen years. I have a bit of experience with it and a few friends that are polygamous. As for my favorite movie, I would have to say Dances with Wolves. I am also part Chickasaw Indian. Although there is some controversy in the family as one side says Chickasaw and the other says Cherokee add that to the Scottish and German and my father says Im a ball to be around when I am mad...lol

Well, after a long needed break and some drama, I have finally been able to return to the site although I had to change my screen name. I am happy to be back among you all and look forward to catching up with those of you that I was chatting with before. For my own private reasons I will not be posting what my old screen name was but once I have the private messaging ability I will be more than happy to explain and tell you what the old name was. I am not sure that the reason I had to change screen names has not become a member and is lurking so please forgive me if I am a bit reserved this go around. But, I am very happy to be back and look forward to many wonderful discussions with you all.
Welcome back!

I’m part Chickasaw too, descending from the Colbert family. Welcome back.

Thank You aineo. I have no concrete proof other than my father's word that we have Indian blood. We were always told not to talk about it because it was "dirty". I tried to tell my father that no one nor is anything that is made in Christ is dirty but he just forbade us to not talk about it.

The interesting thing about my Chickasaw heritage is that it was a polygynous family. James Colbert, a Scottish guy, married three Chickasaw women. The Chickasaws were a somewhat matriarchal society though in that the male leaders came from the women’s lineage not the men’s. So though my male ancestor was Scottish, his sons, from these three women, were all part of the council of chiefs.

It’s hard to find “proof” that you are part Native American. The DNA tests don’t generally have enough of a Native American population from which to make good determinations. The Native Americans are hesitant to use such tests, as there is some fear of future profiling.

I think the bloodline is closer than my father liked it to be, as to why he didnt want it known. This was during the late 60's and early 70's that it was revealed, during a time when it was still taboo to be anything other than white.
