Hello from Missouri

Glad to have you on board. I'm hoping your wife will join this group as well. My youngest son deployed first to Afghanistan, 2nd deployment to Bagdad, and 3rd to Bahrain. A nephew was in Bagdad. Did you retire from the military? Congrats on the new granddaughter. She will be a joy in your life!

Yep... dates cross over, but I'll let her connect. Guessing you will really enjoy her book Ballad for Baghdad. I have. Check it out!
I just saw the book. I am always in awe of anyone who can complete a book. My wife just finished her dissertation and it was a hard work of love. My wife’s book is on domestic violence. Something she learned of first hand. I definitely want to read your wife’s book.

I didn’t retire from the military. I got out to become a gazillionaire. (Still working on that) I went back to the Middle East at first to work on F-15’s for Saudi Arabia. Then off to the war zone to see the sites. I guess I could have picked a better site seeing tour than Iraq.

The baby is doing great. I got to hold her twice today. The older sister (19 months) wasn’t very interested. She wanted to play with hospital stuff.

It’s a small world. Tell her I was in Baghdad from October 2006 through December 2009. Worked at the Washington LZ during that time. I led worship at the chapel at the embassey during January 07 thru December 08. See if any of this rings a bell to her.

I was at BIAP from 2004-2007. Led worship in Saddam's old fishing lodge, and amen to how wonderful it is to worship with soldiers! I was on Victory South, Stryker, Radwaniyah, and Cropper, with a few trips into the Red Zone. My brother-in-law was in the IZ during the assault phase, and I never had the chance to visit there. to It was in Iraq that I had my PM breakthrough, some of which happened as a result of being around several Iraqis who were in plural marriages, as well as Ugandans who were in poly themselves, or their parents were. It was a remarkable adventure, and truly transformational. Hope we get a chance to compare notes face to face, and welcome!

I have family in Joplin and Carthage area. I was just in Springfield for the annual SBC Convention. When I get down that way again (hoping to go to Branson soon) maybe we could meet and I could buy ya some coffee? I’m from the St Louis area.

Phil

Wow we could have almost met in Springfield. We actually work in Springfield but live an hour North.

I just I just noticed this post started sometime last year LOL. If you still live in the area it would be nice to still meet up. We are going to the retreat in Oklahoma in July.

We will be there Thursday and stay til Monday, looking forward to meeting you.

A belated welcome, @Phillip -- and I am very eager to meet you at next month's retreat in Oklahoma. I've enjoyed reading your postings here on the Biblical Families site, and I've heard many other great things about you!
