January 20th 2025 - Donald Trump is BACK!

“A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have.”
Address to a Joint Session of Congress
August 12, 1974
Terrible analogies. The solution is not to cut jobs dealing with safety of the American people. The solution is to re-hire people in those positions:

The government is supposed to be by the people, and for the people. This government is for the ultra rich:

Example - Trump recently said only the smart communities want data centers in their communities.

Meaning - you’re not as intelligent and ignorant if you don’t want these data centers in your backyard. His voters hate these things. They are loud - increase your energy cost - use a lot of water - and who knows what kind of other harmful effects they bring.

But these things are great for the ultra rich, and they are not building these things in their backyards (that’s for sure).

Maybe you think that, as outsiders, we have enough information to second-guess the decisions that are being made.
I don’t.

My job is to vote in the people that will make the best decisions once they have the inside information. I believe that I accomplished that.
No one else running stood a chance to do it half as well.

If people who are providing services are making obscene profits, I can live with that until someone comes along to do it better.
It beats funding jokers like Zelenskyy, et al and the congress-critters that they have been rewarding.

Maybe safety should be taken away from government?

I too would prefer rich people over regular. There are many good reason. Average rich would be more competent, capable and less corruptible are Average Joe.

How do you know this isn't commie sabotage of US economy. Maybe issues aren't that problematic.

By the way, Russia did finance greens in Europe. And look at results.

I read that Musk wants to build space-based data centres that use solar power. How's that creating a problem in your back yard?

Foreign donors funding opposition to data centers.

I do not understand this visceral hatred for data centers. They sound like a win/win to me.

I’m fairly confident that the pushback is funded by China trying to hinder our technological advantage.

I am finding this dialogue helpful in this video May be it will be neat to witness two opposing steel man argument which is what happened in this discussion.

Because data center are needed for AI-enhanced spying of everything and because new data center does raise eletricity bills.

Looks, AI is trained 24/7 which means it needs dedicated power generation. If new needed power generation must be shared with regular folk, then utilies will raise prices for everyone to build new plants.

One server can draw electricity in kW and good datancenter can contain 100K--1M of servers. And this is before network and storage infrastructure. Expect power demand enough to power smaller cities, so aren't talking about upgrades to existing power network facilities, but need to build new ones.

There is potential issue with water. Air can keep regular computers cool enough, but thermal density inside server racks requires using better heat transfer medium. Liquids are better than air which makes water obvious.

I don't know can water be contaminated and probably most water used will stay part of closed loop cycle, but I expect significant amounts are needed.

And this is all before stupid AI missionaires told everyone that AI will took everyone job. Morons.

Excellent breakdown

Think antifreeze. Water is corrosive. They have to put anti-corrosive fluid into the water as it runs through the pipes directly into the servers.

And this is all before stupid AI missionaires told everyone that AI will took everyone job. Morons.
They did! Only now executives are realizing that for some jobs, a hallucination is a life and death matter, and they are scrambling to hire people to replace the people that they let go of.

Thanks.

Do you know more about datacenter construction?
My concentration would be on the software side, but NVidia is one of many GPUs that they build the servers with, because of their ability to do fast processing. When I worked for Dell, they were touting one of their Machine Learning servers because of the amount of space it held, and the rather oversized heat sink that they could fit inside the server. Also their cloud servers were indeed liquid cooled, and they explained that it had pipes in the back that could bring the fluid in and out of the server. Alos Texas Instruments makes some pretty fast DSPs that can be used to do massive calculations.

I always loved sitting down for a cheeseburger at an American restaurant. Under this anti-American Trump administration - no more eating out and ordering anything with beef:

The US has no mandatory country-of-origin labeling for beef. With restaurants already barely getting by - don't be surprised if they are the first ones to grab that cheap foreign beef. I respect China because they put their citizens first. The one we have in the White House says he does, but his fruit speaks for himself.

Unbelievable - AI is going to be absolutely terrible - especially in the hands of this anti-American government. Look at how they handle healthcare - the food supply - the budgeting - the environment - does anyone seriously think they will handle AI well? Joshua's (Iesus/Jesus') first military campaign was against the city of AI. His first military battle was against ai.

Also - in China - they have gambling banned. Meanwhile, in the United States you're flooded with gambling ads. This is not America FIRST. When Donald Trump says America first - he doesn't mean the American people. He means the "State and Corporate Powers" that run and control America.

While I’m not exactly happy about the undercutting of US farmers and ranchers, I find it rich that the nation that brought the world Covid 19 is holding the mantle of clean imports.

I don’t care about China. But I respect they are China first in several aspects - unlike the United States. The United States allows many ingredients into our food supply that other countries have strictly banned. The coke - for example - features not sugar - but high fructose corn syrup. Where is America first? Now we are getting bad quality beef as well - which hurts guess who - the conservatives that voted for him.
